When the Cat’s Away Menu Plan

Actually, all the cats are here.  All 3 of them!  However, my husband is off on a hunting trip for the first couple days of our week.  So, while we mice aren’t exactly going to play, we are going to spend the first half of the week eating some meals with eggs and cheese (he dislikes eggs and all cheeses except parmesan and mozzarella).  We’re also going to enjoy some easier meals!

Fondue Party!  I know it’s not very nice to be having a cheese-y party while my husband is away but when else are we going to do this?  I’m making this fondue recipe and we’ll dip Hy-Vee pretzel bread along with some vegetables in it.  I said we could make chocolate fondue for dessert.  Should be a fun (and hopefully not too messy!) night for the boys and myself.

Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, and Toast  (G has clarinet lessons)

Father-in-law’s birthday!  My husband should be home and we will all be joining family for a dinner OUT at a Chinese restaurant although not the one G and I visited back on my do over day–thank goodness!

Make way for the return of taco night!  I need something quick and easy tonight as we’re fitting in a teacher conference along with soccer practice.

I have a PTA conference to attend so while I wanted to try this Sweet & Spicy Bacon Chicken (it got the okay for us to try it from G), the boys will probably either eat leftover tacos or more likely have dinner out.  J’s soccer game was a washout last Saturday and it will most likely be rescheduled for tonight which means I’m also leaving my poor husband on soccer snack duty as it was our turn!

I love the fondue party! Or should I say Par-Tay. What a fun idea. Hope the hunting is good and that we see venison on the menu in the weeks to come. I’ve been banned from cooking for 24 hours, so I’m hoping hubby is up to making breakfast for dinner.

Thank you! So, are you going to share what one has to do to get banned from cooking for 24 hours? I think I NEED that information.

Thanks. We did enjoy our party although the fondue wasn’t quite the hit (with any of us) that I had hoped it would be.
