Fourth of July Week Menu Plan

mpm-chalkboard

As much as I love holidays and especially the Fourth of July, I admit I struggle with menu planning around them. If I was the supermom that I want to be, then we’d be having exciting red, white, and blue meals 3 times a day all week-long. However, I’ll do good just to get dinners that somewhat please everyone on the table. Here is what we will likely be eating around here this week and maybe we’ll have some red, white, and blue meals for breakfast or lunch but I’m not going to worry if it doesn’t happen.

MONDAY (baseball practice?)

fajitas and burritos (for the boys)

TUESDAY (J has an 8p.m. baseball game)

pork chops, baked potatoes

Porkchops

Pork chops

WEDNESDAY

Roast made into BBQ sandwiches

BBQ sandwich made from roast plus French fries (pickles count as a vegtable with this meal as well!)

THURSDAY (HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!)

I’ll be contributing something somewhere I’m sure 🙂  Probably crunchy coleslaw and the boys and I will make our traditional Fourth of July cookies for fun.

FRIDAY

Pizza, either homemade or I’ll cash in my Papa John’s points depends on how wiped out everyone feels from Thursday’s festivities.

I keep forgetting that this week is the 4th. I am so out of the loop on dates right now. I totally understand the just making sure food gets on the table feeling. I’ve been there for a week now with all the craziness.

I think we might end up doing the BBQ sandwiches from the roast I am cooking Sunday. It’s always such an easy meal.

I have an 8 year old son who has been reminding us about the Fourth of July since mid-June! Easy meals are the best especially when life is busy.

I’m glad to know I’m not alone on that. I know that my boys don’t always get overly excited about my efforts either.

I do think a red, white, and blue meal would be fun but a bit more work than I’m willing to put in just for meals.

Easy is best! I like your possible ordering pizza idea for Friday! I think we’ll be doing bbq chicken and a side with blueberry-cherry strawberry shortcake (to make it red white and blue and take advantage of grocery store sales). But I’m not messing with red white and blue breakfast and lunch! My kids will probably be disappointed. Although…if I put red, white, and/or blue sprinkles on their sandwiches…they’d love that.

Oh, I like the sprinkles idea although I do know that mine would NOT like it on their sandwiches but maybe I could add them to the top of a blueberry muffin mix I found. The grocery stores are having some great deals right now, aren’t they?
