I’m determined not to have to rename this one Saturday excuses. However, here we go with how much I actually did get accomplished and how much I did NOT get accomplished from yesterday and why. First, please accept my apologies if you returned here to see pictures of my clean home. I pushed the automated cleaning button several times and the automated house cleaner would not turn on yesterday. What your house doesn’t have an automated house cleaner? Oh yeah, neither does mine.
What my house did have yesterday was a husband who woke up with a headache and went to work but came home to take medicine and sleep for 2 hours in the middle of the day (one of those perks of being self-employed if you don’t take into account the no sick time part). I couldn’t quite bring myself to vacuum or steam mop (those things are a bit loud) while I knew he was sleeping off a headache. I did roll the couch and chair in the living room for pet hair, clean underneath them (I must be keeping up with this fairly well as there really wasn’t all that much including dirt!), and use the Swifter mop that isn’t the Swifter brand in there. However, the auto parking problem remains. I may have been a bit distracted because I made the mistake of flipping on Netflix since I was working in a room with a television anyway. Can you guess what is on my agenda for the day over here? Sigh, yes, cleaning the house!
While I do not have a picture of a clean house to show you, I can show this “loveliness”
Yellow is not a good color for car inspection papers.
Apparently, they expect your third brake light to work before they will pass your vehicle. Only one bulb was out but I had no idea. Then, there was some issue about my rear-view and side mirrors being foggy and hard to see. Thankfully, the husband with a headache took the news better than I expected when he woke. I had thought I would come home and have the house spotless and cookies baking before I had to share the failed inspection news when he arrived home from work but I had to just lay it out there instead. I think he was so shocked that I actually went and got the car inspected that he couldn’t give me any trouble or maybe he was just relieved that most the items are simple fixes (I am relieved on that point myself as I do still love my older car).
The third item was to go buy flea medicine for our poor cats. I have no excuse but I simply did not get this item done. Again, it is on today’s agenda. I’m hoping that they don’t close super early since the boys had a friend spend the night last night (yes, in our exceedingly messy house) and I didn’t follow one of my own sleepover suggestions of setting an end time for today. I really needed to do that with this particular friend since I hate telling kids to go home (even when I want them to go home).
Still I’m happy that I crossed one of the highest priority items off my list. The auto fixing part falls under my husband’s domain and since he does not have a procrastination problem, it will be fixed well before that 20 day deadline (he was already tracking down mirror parts last night). I will have an easier time cleaning the house today since I did pick up a few much-needed cleaning supplies after I finished with the car inspection yesterday. Because I’m such a nice mom, I may turn today’s housecleaning into a group project as well.
Did you do better on your t0-do list yesterday than me? What fun things are you planning for this Saturday?
