I’m Snow Over It!

We all have one of those days sometimes but this is starting to be one of those winters. Normally, I try to focus on the positive around here but today I need to make an exception and whine get a few things off my chest.  Feel free to add your vent in the comments at the bottom of this post.  Here is my list of 3 things I am “snow” over!   snowoverit I’m pretty sure you will be able to guess the very first item on this list and I have a feeling a few of you may share my frustration.   We should all go have a groundhog roast on a warm beach with white sand somewhere…

  1. I am SNOW OVER this winter. It’s been miserable cold with times of teasing us with spring-like temperatures.  Then, yesterday we got hit with a foot of snow.  It literally (in the correct sense of the word) snowed from dawn until dark!

We ended up with about 8.5 inches of snow here with more predicted this weekend. Yay?

Snow ice cream really wasn’t a hit and there may have been hitting during one of the many fights over the x-box between my boys.  It is 5 degrees with a foot of snow out there today and we are already running low on snacks.  I do know for certain that should the Zombie Apocalypse happen, we will have to be on the run because these boys will eat all the food in our home within the first 48 hours.

  2. I am SNOW OVER my family constantly finding sickness.  I once posted this about how we all stay healthy.   I guess I need to eat crow (but only if it would help us health-wise) because one or all of us has been sick on a rotating basis since 3 weeks before Christmas.   J stayed home from school on Monday with a fever and now G has been running a fever the past two days.  I had stop working on this post to get him cold medicine.

  3. I am SNOW OVER the refusal of the maid and cook to report for work every day.  Every single day *I* have to pick up their slack and cook and clean and take care of all the people and animals (I’m now taking tips on how to explain to cats that the snow is over their heads and it is 5 degrees outside).  SIGH, I’m never going to be able to go to the ball.   Dear Fairy Godmother, can you just turn the pumpkin into a self-cleaning house and skip the rest?  Thanks!

Of course, I have to end this on a positive note because that is just the right thing to do and I already feel better after griping getting all those frustrations out of my system.  Thanks for listening!  I am not “snow over” having my family safe at home during a snowstorm, snuggling up with little cats and watching too much Netflix or reading, and I don’t think I’ll ever be “snow over” finding scenes like this on the living room floor:

One of my snow day "campers"

Now, it’s your turn to vent.  Leave a comment and let me know what you are snow over.  And if you actually like winter, that’s okay as well.  We can still be friends.

You’re right, we are on the same page about winter. I too am snow over all of the above. There must be some kind of cleaning service strike right now because mine hasn’t been showing up either. In fact they’ve never shown up. WHAT GIVES? Guess we’ll have to wait until we can complain about the heat. Which is much more preferable.

I hear you. I put a similar sentiment up at my blog today – only I went with the wordless approach. I am, though, very grateful to be home with my family and not out braving the elements. There is that!

As for cats, well, our three are totally indoor cats, so they’re not interested in going out in the snow. They love watching it, but they did not enjoy the sound of the sleet hitting the windows last night – that drives them batty.

Oh, I’ll have to go see what is on your blog. I wish our cats weren’t interested in going out there but one is convinced she must keep our family safe from the great squirrel take-over, never mind that she’s the same size as the squirrels.

    I get to vent?
    1. Sore throat grrr
    2. Snow double grrr
    3. Ice MASSIVE GRRR
    4. Being at work *sharpens the stabby knife*
    5. My dust bunnies devoured the cleaning faerie.
A quote from Holy Grail is now needed:
“Tim: Look, that rabbit’s got a vicious streak a mile wide! It’s a killer!
    Sir Galahad: Get stuffed!
Tim: He’ll do you up a treat, mate.
    Sir Galahad: Oh, yeah?
Sir Robin: You manky Scots git!
    Tim: I’m warning you!
Sir Robin: What’s he do? Nibble your bum?
Tim: He’s got huge, sharp… er… He can leap about. Look at the bones!”

Tim: I *warned* you, but did you listen to me? Oh, no, you *knew*, didn’t you? Oh, it’s just a harmless little *bunny*, isn’t it?

Thankful? That my oldest is able to babysit my youngest so I can not spend all my vacation time on this junk and instead save it back for some fun this year with the family. Also, thankful for not losing power with this ice storm.

Alrighty back to work with me I guess they don’t pay me to make Monty Python quotes. Have a great day 🙂

Hope your work day didn’t last too long and that your sore throat goes away. Now, you have me wanting to think about a vacation as we get ready to go into snow (cold) day number 3 around here.

Yep, I’m snow over it, too. Your backyard looks just like mine – cause we live in the same town!!!

Has there been snow on the ground all winter? I think so.
Did winter start early? I think so.
Has it been colder than ever with more days in the single digits with wind chills below zero? I think so.

But my family is safe and sound and spring’s around the corner. Right??? Please say yes.

You know what I know then…we are supposed to get MORE of the snow Friday, I think. The good news is I heard it is just supposed to be a dusting. Hopefully, that will hold true. I am VERY ready for spring but I would certainly settle for some spring temps right about now.

I wish I could send you some. Sometimes we tend to forget that weather we complain about so much would be welcome elsewhere. I saw on the news where San Francisco is preparing for a bunch of rain, any chance that will go your way?

I too have had just an awful awful winter. It was hard to stay warm, hard to stay focused, hard to do anything, except I did bake a tad bit too much judging by my new pants LOL

We also had a strange rash of sicknesses here, especially me. There seems to be some resistant strain of the flu or something going around, and it’s not been too much fun. It’s hit us in varying degrees, but typically it’s just been upset stomach.

Now I’m playing catchup with it all, all of my laziness. Unfortunately, the dust in the lower level, where I’m working now, is fairly thick. Not so thick that it’s like a white sheen has taken over, but it’s definitely visible in places where its been left to settle (since before Christmas) and I’m needing to use a dampened rag to get it all up, otherwise it’s just blowing everywhere. My nose can certainly tell I’m dusting. Well, your blog helped me to stay focused some today and get more done than I have in a while, so thanks 🙂 Of course it looks still like we’re either moving in or moving out, but it’s getting less dusty 🙂

Less dust is good 🙂 I really do like the Swifter dusters for keeping it from flying through the air.
