Saturday Success Stories, I Did Stuff

Ever have one of those days where you get a lot of stuff done but it wasn’t exactly the stuff you planned on getting done that day?  That is pretty much the synopsis of yesterday.   SaturdaySuccesspic1
I started off super-motivated to get all those items completed and then, as always, the day threw me a bit of a curve-ball.  I ended up going to help pack up the school book fair in the middle of the day which was definitely not on my to-do list for the week.  It really shouldn’t have been that big of a deal but it ended up taking twice as long as usual due to a couple of unforeseen events.  By the time I returned home, I was pretty much done.  I did get a brief spark of productivity around 8:30p.m. but it fizzled out fast.  Over all, here is how I did on my 3 tasks.  (I even have a few pictures this time!)
  1. I completed this task!  The boys reactions to it were funny.  G returned home from school and said, “Never put anything back on the refrigerator.”  I think he was happy with the new clutter-free look.  J finally noticed it and quickly began putting magnets back on the front faster than I could put them out of sight.  He doesn’t do as well with change.  Here are some before and after photos:

It’s certainly not “Pinterest pretty” but it is done.  I’m so happy I no longer have to feel guilty about not putting Box-tops on that flyer from November!

  2. Purging those piles of papers is where I struggled.  The couches are cleared off, the magazine bin is sorted (not on the list but I did it anyway), the floor is clear, and the papers from the refrigerator are sorted.  The papers by this desk?  Well, I still have much sorting to do.  I do have a small “to file” pile that didn’t exist before so I’m making progress.

I know it doesn’t look better but it IS an improvement.

  3. I used my burst of energy at 8:30p.m. to work on this task and fill in the March calendar in my blogging notebook.  I also filled out some other pages.  Did you notice I changed the blog background color?  That’s about as fancy as my technical ability allows at this point.  I did that one yesterday afternoon.  I also wrote an extra blog post yesterday.  You can see it here if you missed it.

Here is a small list of some of the other stuff I did:  gave neighbor back the snack her son left here on Wednesday, folded 2 loads of laundry plus washed all the  Steam mop pad things,  participated in a Facebook Hop on the wrong date (SIGH), went to Target, helped with the school book fair, made tacos, mopped the kitchen floor, and wondered with J why his friend was taking so long to show up for the sleepover we had planned.  I suppose I get to wear my mom of the year badge today because after I checked on things, it turned out the sleepover was planned for next weekend.  Dates are important.
At least, I know today is Saturday and that I would love to hear about your Friday.  Have you ever mixed up any important dates?

Ah Friday… accomplished? Err. Drove youngest to school after missing bus – I totally zoned oh we have 10 min.. wait how’d it get 5 past! – dishes, work, then motivated by your post Friday I got home early (worked extra hours earlier this week) and started tackling the paper monster after stopping by the dollar store to get a new pretty box to store ‘art’ from the fridge. Then proceed to go through art in a filing cabinet, then proceeded to shred 15 yr old pay stubs and other info older than sin that I needed to shred.. ended up with a trash bag of shred, a trash bag of toss LOL and I’m barely through the paper monster but it was a dent. I think this summer we’re going to have a burn party with 20 yr old carbon copies of checks LOL – err, got kids, made dinner, took youngest & her friend to the Y then back to my house to play wii then dropped her friend back off and passed out!
And yup have totally mixed up dates on stuff! If I’m in a big hurry I jot things down in the calendar and sometimes forget what week I’m on! LOL
Sounds like you had some hiccups but were totally amazing as always! Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Wow, you accomplished a ton. Way to go! I think we need to have a paper shredding party 🙂 A summer paper burn party sounds fun as well. That’s probably where I went wrong on the sleepover slip-up. I didn’t write it down on the calendar. Of course, that’s because I thought it was coming up so soon. It’s written on there now. LOL.

We always have to rush around to get ready for company. I hope you enjoyed your night. And getting everything done on your list is great–I’d have probably let mine slide so good for you in sticking with it.

oh yes, I’m frequently near missing things due to not writing them on the calendar. No, it’s not good, especially when sometimes (rarely thank goodness) it’s a CC bill. YIKES!

LOVE the look of a bare fridge. Right before Christmas I cleaned off the front of the fridge, and asked Jenna to clean the magnets with a rag and soapy water. After she cleaned them, she then proceeded to artfully place the magnets back on the fridge. I really just wanted to try the bare fridge look. I KNOW it’s a great open space for all sorts of loveliness, HOWEVER, it most certainly fills up with squatters 🙁 LOL

Yesterday I had one of those days where I was busy busy busy, but not the good kind of busy – I was HOARDING MORE RECIPES LOL BUT!!!!!!! I was also ‘getting rid of’ three cookbooks – too bad they were ones I borrowed from the library, but also, that’s three less items lurking in my house, right?! LOL

Actually, I admit that I like a little bit on the fridge and I’m that nosy person who likes to see what others have on their fridge. I just don’t like so much that I can’t see the “important” stuff. Good for you in taking books back to the library!
