What’s Going On Wednesday

I haven’t shared a What’s Going on Wednesday post, an idea originated by Andrea of The Distracted Housewife and Shelly over at A Mothers Nook, in quite a while.  However, since I’ve been a bit sporadic with my blogging lately, I thought I would sneak in a few minutes to share what’s been going on around here lately before I sneak off to work for a few hours today.   This is going to be one of those completely random type posts as well.

I’ve been working at the preschool a bit more than I expected this summer.  This is good (the money, the boys are getting a chance to be independent) and bad (it’s summer and I want to be doing things with the kids or at least taking up space in the same house plus as lame as it sounds, I’m running out of clothing choices to wear there).  I’m working the entire week next week which will be an adventure.

We’ve had a bit of a revolving door of friends hanging out and spending the night (when I’m not working for the most part) so we haven’t really been following our days of the week routine very much (at all).  Game day is the most successful day on it so far.  I managed to make an emerald house in Minecraft last week!  Go me!

I have posts swirling around in my head that I want to share but as my blogging friends know, it takes time not only to write but to edit and upload pictures and having an available computer is also an important component of the job.

Last year I saved my sunflower seeds and we started them in an egg carton (after some we tried to start in the ground didn’t do so well) and I also accidentally dropped some seeds in our yard while trying to find good planting locations.  I’ve been rescuing sunflower seedlings for the past 2 weeks.

We have around 16 seedlings now coming up in front and beside our home.  Have I ever mentioned I love sunflowers?

We managed to get out to visit the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art (something crossed off our list!) as well as the lawn of the Nelson-Atkins Museum (main building is closed on Tuesdays).

I wish we lived a bit closer to that beautiful place.  If you ever are in the KC area, please make sure to go there.  Then, I went with a friend to see Wings in 3D narrated by David Tennant which was the second part of a special Doctor Who event.

The first part included seeing two Doctor Who episodes (Rise of the Cybermen and Age of Steel) on the big screen.  My friend also gave me a hydrangea she no longer wanted.  I also love hydrangea!

Today:  I’m working for a few hours this morning, then if the weather is right, I think we may be swimming pool bound if everyone is not too tired (the boys had another friend spend the night).  I may try to find us something quick to do for science day or we may skip it as we also have what should be a final baseball game tonight.  Two of our games were rained out though and so this weekend is now going to be all about make-up baseball games assuming it doesn’t rain.    I haven’t planned out our lunches or dinners this week but if you’re curious, I think we’ll be having spaghetti tonight.

I’m sure I missed quite a bit of what’s been going on around here but I have to go get ready for work now.  I’ve also missed interacting with my loyal blog readers!  What’s been going on with you?

Congrats on the emerald house in Minecraft – impressive! I don’t think I could do that.

Oooh, how was the Doctor Who on the big screen? I bet it was so cool!

I think it is a terrific idea to take the kids to a museum. What a great summer they are having. That grass is so green – makes me just want to roll in it (and then od on benedryl since grass gives me hives *sigh*).

Great post! Welcome back! Missed you!

Doctor Who on the big screen was amazing! I keep thinking of other episodes I’d like to see on the big screen. Blink would be great around Halloween, I think.

I wish I would have managed to take the boys on a few more outings so far this summer. Oh dear, I don’t think rolling in grass at this time of year (or any) around here would be a good idea. It would be fun but you would likely come out with chiggers in addition to the hives!

Thanks. I’m trying to find a rhythm for my summer blogging. Hopefully, I’ll get there soon.

Oh, and I almost forgot, I did have quite a bit of help with the Minecraft house from the boys! I was still proud they didn’t take the controls away from me like last time though 😉

I haven’t been to the Nelson-Atkins in a long time. I should stop in and see what’s new. It is a very cool place. So thanks for the reminder.

I think today will be a perfect day for swimming. It’s definitely hot enough.

Minecraft, huh?! My son and daughter-in-law play that a lot. In fact, I’m getting ready to make my son a quilt and we’re going to make it a Minecraft Theme. I’ll be sure and show it to you when it’s put together.

It really is such a neat place and you definitely can’t beat the price! I think the parking garage costs but I’ve never had trouble finding free street parking. I have to admit I did rather enjoy building my house (what I understood of it). I’m sure they’ll love the quilt! I can’t wait to see it!
