Family Matters

Last year I tried writing an entire 31 day blog series about family matters.  I didn’t exactly succeed.  I had no idea what I was doing.  I still don’t.  I’m just more determined to follow through with this particular series.  I still believe in putting my family first.  I usually don’t post on Sundays because I’m giving my attention to my family.  It may look like I’m playing Candy Crush Saga and perusing Pinterest but I’m really doing laundry and planning what meals we’ll eat for the week.  Sundays during the school year usually also involve a trip to the grocery store.

I’m keeping today’s post on family matters short and sweet so I can get back to my candy crush game and Pinterest to making sure they all have clean socks and underwear and something to eat all week.  Here’s the quick list of the family matters I will complete this month:

  1. Make that home alone handbook for the boys
  2. Make a “mom’s at work/boredom” box for my youngest son.  I’m undecided if this will be one item or two.
  3. Get the cats to the vet for their vaccines (hey, they are family, too!)
  4. Get the boys’ fall/winter clothing in order

I should have five things on the list but I’m drawing a blank so the fifth item will be a mystery bonus item.  Actually, I should have 500 things on the list but the theme of the month is follow through so a list of 500 things would be setting myself up for failure.  The main underlying theme of today’s post is to simply follow through on giving my family a bit more attention.  Being more aware of their needs.

My follow through item for today was actually to get this post written and published.  I’m also off to finish my laundry and watch my shows.  G and I are watching Once Upon A Time and Resurrection together.  I suppose the beauty of no cable television is that I don’t have to worry about our shows being preempted for baseball.  Still, Go Royals!

What’s on your to-do list or television viewing list today?

It always happens that way here. I’m trying to get ahead things sorted before the snow starts to fall.

My list today included writing a post when I didn’t want to (done) and starting a huge topsy turvy of the house. Several rooms are getting swapped and it’s a huge mess. I didn’t get to watch ANY television because someone got a new video game and was hogging the TV.

Good for you in getting your post written. Swapping rooms is a big project. A huge mess always means progress, right? I’m sorry you didn’t get any television time. I’d say it is your turn tonight.

I’m not sure completely… Yesterday (when you posted) I wasn’t looking around at blogs. Mostly was bored did lots of laundry kids are gone for the week and husband went out to play cards so it was a lot of Hulu and laundry folding. — We have a TV antenna but that’s it we got rid of cable some years ago too. 500 expensive channels of nothing to watch just wasn’t worth that $100/mo in our book 🙂

We got rid of our cable when our oldest son was born. At the time, every show I watched was on network television. Sometimes we miss it but really we do just fine without it.

Dusting was on my list for yesterday. We turned on the heater last week and the next thing I knew there was dust everywhere. Bleh! The hubby was getting through organizing the garage (bless him) and the boy had a friend over. It was a nice day. 🙂

Sounds like you had a great day. We’ve had our heater on a few times in the last 2 weeks as well. Have to make sure it works before it gets super cold.

My to-do for today was to finish getting caught up with you and your blog 🙂 I’m ALMOST there! I can almost feel it, and a few times I’ve wanted to just leave the last couple/few LOL I’m totally hoping to get rejuvenated to work through some things that are happening, or rather not happening, around here LOL

The games is one thing, but the paperwork is so another. I really need to implement something NOW for the paperwork that is coming in NOW and in the future, and not really worry about the past just quite yet. I’ve read that multiple times now, from different sources – just start with today so that the stuff coming in has a space, since that’s the stuff that currently matters. Too funny – today’s Flylady, which I almost just deleted without reading, but the title caught my eye about the file cabinet being gone LOL It’s full circle baby, I tell you!

Thanks for reading my blog 🙂 I really appreciate that you decided to spend your time that way. It does make sense to start where you are with the paperwork and yet I wonder if that isn’t what makes the follow through fizzle out sometimes. Maybe approach it from both ends. I don’t know.
