Finishing the Fun Stuff

It’s actually pretty late for this Follow Through Friday and probably a good time to take a minute to remember that it is important to take time to finish the fun things we put off as well.  It is easy to get bogged down in big projects and follow those distractions on the path to procrastination.  However, sometimes those same distractions can keep us from finishing the fun activities we enjoy as well.  Patty from Homemakers Daily talked about this some in her post titled Eliminating Time Wasters.  It’s a good one.  Go check it out!   I wish I had her discipline to eliminate my time wasters.  I’m sticking with my justification that Candy Crush Saga is a good distraction since the lives are limited though.

Sometimes when we get busy, we forget to follow through on simply relaxing in addition to all those half-finished projects.  We leave our book sitting.  We don’t do any blog reading (on my list for this weekend!).  We don’t get around to watching that Netflix movie that came in the mail over a week ago.  We don’t take the time to pick up the phone and call a friend (or send them an e-mail).  We don’t take the time to bake the dessert that we bought the ingredients to make prior to getting so busy.

I worked again today but I also had a small amount of time this morning and so I took it to finish a fun thing.  I watched that Netflix movie (Transcendence) that had been sitting there for over a week.  I’ve been making an effort to read my one book a week.  It’s important to find time to finish the fun things as well as all the other projects which we may or may not consider fun.  Basically, it is all about balance.  Oh, to find that perfect balance!  However, on the Friday of a rather long week…the scale must tip toward fun.  Every single time.

I’m thinking tomorrow will definitely call for some follow through on sleeping late.  What fun things do you need to finish this weekend?

I got my Crushing in 😉 and got my other two games in, then I’m all caught up with you, and I looked at the recipes that come in on my Facebook. I did NOT go all the way back to when I wasn’t on the computer for a few weeks (I know, how did I do that?! LOL) I just needed to get away from some of the unhealthy things I was doing online – too many games, nothing ‘gross’.

I also got through 8 games this morning BEFORE I plunked down at the computer. I put about 5 more upstairs to deal with, which I’m going to do right now 🙂

Hope you have a wonderful day.

Good for you in getting through some games first! I may be spending less time with Candy Crush soon as I’m super STUCK on my current level. I think I need to take a break and come back to it.

It’s always easier to do the “fun” things than the “un-fun”! Right now, I’ll just be happy to be back on my feet and getting Anything done now that I’m finally feeling better!
A good game to play with myself is to promise a fun thing if I complete or at least work on a non-fun. Trying to teach Kidzilla the same thing when it comes to some school work.

Oh, being ahead sounds like such a great idea 🙂 I’ve been planning a bit for my younger son’s birthday as it’s coming up soon (in November). Hope you get everything you want to do accomplished!
