I have chosen Chapter as my 2015 word of the year. Chapter just fits. I’m sure if you spent any time around Pinterest in the past few weeks you saw the Brad Paisley quote that stated:
“Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 day book. Write a good one.”
Using that idea, my goal is to do this:
If you read my post earlier this week, you know I had a hard time deciding on just this one word for 2015. I had so many great words in my mind and not just the 3 finalists either. Even after writing that post and reading the great input in the comments, new words kept popping into my mind: voice, peace, refresh, learn, and many others.
I also read the words other bloggers had chosen for their words of the year that were so inspiring and the temptation to steal some of those was great. A few of my favorites were:
-
Focus from Elizabeth at Autism Mom
-
Simplify from Rachel at Organized Island
-
Adventure from Alli over at Scattered Squirrel.
-
Growth from Hannah at Supermommy!..or not.
I loved that Elizabeth’s son also picked a word (Fun) and tried that with my own children who gave me the obnoxious answers of “nothing” from J so he wouldn’t have to focus on anything all year and “revolution” from G which was an oddly fitting choice for a teenager even if he was just saying it to annoy his mother.
My idea for making each month into a chapter of my year means that I get to choose more words for the year! I’ve decided to choose a theme for each “chapter” in 2015 (I know this almost sounds like goal-setting but for the sake of my rebellious soul we aren’t going to point that out.).
The plan was to share all the chapters here for you like an index but then I got stuck on the title of chapter 3 (March) and decided you’ll just have to keep reading the blog (please?) each month to get the new titles. I can share the title of my January 2015 chapter with you though.
Renew, Refresh, and Reconnect
I’ll be posting more about my ideas for doing those things throughout the month of January. I’ve also started a Pinterest board called January to collect thoughts and ideas on this chapter. Follow it here if you’d like. And if you’d like to add to it, please let me know and I’d love to add you on as a contributor.
What are some ways you renew your spirit in the winter? And please, don’t say you take a tropical vacation…unless you have an extra ticket for me.

I think Chapter is a wonderful word Jean! It also reminds us that we are sometimes more in control of the chapters in our lives than we think! Following the Pinterest board too!

You are very welcome for the shout-out and thanks for your vote on the word.
I totally LOVE that word : Chapter!
It just leaves so much out there – you could start a new chapter hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly. Heck, even start a new chapter in the afternoon after you realize you’ve done nothing but internet 😉 Tee hee.
(I’m certainly divulging my morning activities) Yikes!
Can’t wait to read more 🙂

Thanks! Ha, I never thought of applying it to each day like that but love that idea. Oh, I’ve had Internet days a time or two 😉
Yup, I still love Chapter, Jean! Great choice! I’m looking forward to seeing where you go with it.
I’ve settled on Progress for my 2015 word.

Thank you. Oh, I like Progress as well. So much potential with it!
The whole concept of a word for a year is interesting. How do you remind yourself of it to keep it in perspective?
It’s a good word though 🙂 Hope you have an awesome 2015!
