Projects for Today

It’s time for Small Project Day and I have two projects to share with you.  First, a confession about my small project last week.  I didn’t do it.  I really have no excuse.  I was tired after work but I was home on Thursday!

I choose to spend the day shopping instead of sorting through my make-up.  I didn’t buy any new make-up and I won’t go to Ulta until I actually do sort through my make-up.  Hopefully, my future small projects will go a bit better.  I do have some fun small projects in mind so that will help.  Fun projects always seem to have a higher success rate.

Time to talk about the big and small projects I have planned for today.   smallprojectday

First, I’ll share about my big project because maybe you’ll want to join me:

I decided to join in the 31 Days to Clean Challenge over on the Sarah Mae blog.  It seemed a good fit with my January chapter of Renew, Refresh, and Reconnect.  I bought the e-book last night and started following along this morning.

I need this.  My house needs this.  My family needs this.  I really love the approach presented in the book.  So I’ll be following along and hopefully, have a clean home to show for it at the end.

Today is the first day.  The Clean Challenge starts in the kitchen.  Actually, it starts with a load of laundry which I’ve already done.  This is what my kitchen counters and table looked like this morning and why I need to do this challenge.

It’s been worse but the sink has been full too many days now.

And of course, it you are a regular reader, then you have probably seen my table in much worse condition but I would some day very much like to see the top of it again:

See that dollar over there? I found it doing the laundry!

I’m writing this on Tuesday so those are actually yesterday’s big items.  I think I read ahead that today’s big item is to scrub the kitchen floor.  Oh my, that is very much-needed around here.

Since I’m clearing the counters and table in the kitchen on Tuesday, I’ve decided to expand on that for my small project today.

Time to share my small project with you:

The inside of the art supply cabinet is still in need of that make-over as it no longer looks like it did in this post.  However, the top of it has become a graveyard of a strange items:

What’s hiding in this space?

My small project for today is simply to clean and clear it off.  Some items may return to the space but I have a feeling most items may find a new home in file 13.

What projects, big or small, are you working on today?

I love the idea of a small project – because success on a small project gives confidence for tackling larger ones. That cabinet looks like the perfect space to add a shelf or a rack so you can use all of the vertical storage area. Good luck!!

Thank you! Oh, I never thought of putting a shelf or rack in that space…I’ll have to ponder that idea.

Thanks. I’m glad you can identify with my messy counters, I think? Actually, you are right and it is nice to know others with the same issues. My counters were clean and I could even see the top of the table (!) but I went grocery shopping so now I’ve got to go clear it all again. I suppose normal people would have put all the groceries away before taking a break not just the cold/freezer items.

Ahhhh, I can SO relate with that all. All that mess, the counter, the table, the kitchen floor…. LOL

My counter looked like that this morning, and before I even had my first sit down at the computer and my cuppa coffee, I did those dishes. Originally I had intended on only doing half the dishes, and I’m so thankful I went ahead and finished them, even if it meant leaning the cooling racks and the baking sheets on the stove top to dry 😉 I sure am enjoying those Rolo cookies I baked yesterday as the snow was coming down.

My kitchen floor needs a cleaning as well. I’m just about caught up with laundry, so I’ll call it a success.

I did give the bathrooms a cleaning, even the tub, but not the floor, so can’t count it as clean yet.

You are always living my life 😉 LOL

We have the snow today but no Rolo cookies to go along. My kids get the cookies the nice elves baked and the nice grocer put on sale! I did get quite a bit of laundry done Sunday night and yesterday.
