Happy Homemaker Monday

I seem to do better when I write my Happy Homemaker Monday posts on Sundays.  Obviously, writing a post last Monday didn’t work out so well for me.  This week looks to be just as unpredictable as last week so I’m writing my post (and hopefully a few others) on Sunday. At some point on Monday, I’ll link it up with the other Happy Homemaker Monday posts hosted by Sandra over at Diary of a Stay At Home Mom.

The Weather Outside

While I wouldn’t call it frightful, it is certainly not delightful.  Winter woke up yesterday and realized its time was coming to an end.  I would much prefer to see green (like I made the blog background) on March 1st as opposed to the sparkling white I see in every direction.  Thankfully, the temperatures are in the 30s and 40s most the week with rain on Tuesday.  Bring on the mud!  At least, this is the weather forecast as I write my post but we are in the Midwest so…it is subject to change…probably in about 5 minutes.

I’m sitting back here in my pajamas and working on my blog.  The boys plus one of G’s friends are all downstairs playing video games and my husband is watching a show on his computer.  Our cat finally decided she is not a snow leopard and is napping on our bed.

To-Do List Items

  1. Make a menu plan and write plus schedule a few blog posts for this week (in progress)
  2. Make a line time plan for work tomorrow
  3. Clean out the fridge and pantry
  4. Go to a MUCH needed Mom’s night out on Tuesday
  5. Clean the house
  6. Go shopping for many, many things I need (and want) such as socks, work clothes and things, home decor, and a new computer.  Whether I just shop or actually buy any of those is uncertain at this point.

Menu Plan For the Week x2

As usual, I’m going to link up over at Menu Plan Monday hosted by Laura from I’m An Organizing Junkie.  Even though I didn’t post a plan last week, it is such a habit that I did make one as I was grocery shopping on Monday night (note:  I always try to plan my menus a week ahead as I’m grocery shopping each week).

Here is what we ate last week:  Monday-Pancakes & Bacon, Tuesday-Tacos for the boys, Carne de Sada for us (My husband cooked), Wednesday-Lasagna (from a box plus bread and salad), Thursday-Leftovers, Friday-pork chops

Here is the plan for this week:

Monday: Roast in the crock pot

Tuesday: Chicken and Broccoli (I’m excited to try this recipe!)

Wednesday:  Ribs in the oven, corn on the cob, and salad

Thursday: Sloppy Joes and French Fries (I never made these the last time I put them on the menu)

Friday: Popcorn shrimp for the boys, fish for us (hoping my husband will cook) or leftovers

Books and Television

I did read two e-books last weekend and so that will have to make up for reading NOTHING all last week unless we count preschool selections (I read The Secret Birthday Message by Eric Carle for the preschoolers along with The Shape of Me And Other Stuff by Dr. Seuss).  Since Dr. Seuss’ birthday is on March 2nd and I’ve been researching him, do tell what is your favorite Dr. Seuss book?  My two favorites are Daisy Head Maize (which I’ve learned was published posthumously) and The Sneetches & Other Stories (specifically the story of The Zax).

The two e-books I read and really enjoyed were random free selections that I think came with our Amazon Prime Account which we forgot to cancel (oops!).  Those books were:  Wreckage by Emily Beeker and The Mermaid’s Sister by Carrie Ann Noble.  I enjoyed both books very much but would probably give a slight edge to Beeker’s book for its elements of mystery if I had to rank them.

As far as television, I still need to catch up on the episode of The 100 that I missed.  G’s managed to get me hooked on Arrow so I’ve been watching that a bit on Netflix as well.  And of course, I’m hoping for a repeat of the Wednesday night comedy snuggle session again this week.

Blog Posts and Plans

The blog posts and plans will depend probably on how much I get done today.  The computer is working again for now.  I have a few ideas but I also have to check laundry, go to the grocery store, and plan for preschool around them.  If it turns out that I am working less this week (I am on standby for this week), then I’ll blog a bit more.  I have picked a new word for March to share.  I’d like to do a giveaway if I can figure it all out.  Plus I have a few lonely posts in progress that have been there a bit too long.

From the Camera

Thoughts for the Week

You’ll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut.  ~Dr. Seuss

Above all else guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it ~Proverbs 4:23

My week could be as busy as last week or it could be a bit slower paced.  I really won’t know until tomorrow so I’m planning for busy.  Are you planning for a busy or more relaxed week?

I’m there with you about tired of this weather. They changed our forecast last night so now it’s rain rain rain … which will finally help get rid of that snow from 2 weeks ago but then we are suppose to get 3-6″ Wednesday. I haven’t even started my seeds so I hope summer holds off this year but I get the feeling we are just not going to have a spring.
Sounds like you’ve had a super busy few weeks! Hope you enjoy your Tuesday out 🙂 Sounds like you need it!

We’re on our 3rd day of super nice warm SUNNY and spring-like weather so hopefully, it is headed your way if it’s not there yet. I did enjoy my Tuesday out except it turned out it was on Wednesday so yes, I definitely needed it 🙂

It certainly was a crazy weather week wasn’t it? Did you see the snow on Wednesday morning? I’m definitely happy with the weather that followed though and hope it just stays as it is now for a while.
