If you’ve ever wondered about whether what they say about Midwestern weather is true, yesterday would have been your proof of the accuracy of such statements. We woke up to rain, then ice, then it snowed, and it was sunny and in the low 50s by late afternoon. Not great Easter brunch weather but it was still a nice day.
I took a break from the blog last week to get ready for Easter and also because I was simply busy. I worked both Monday and Tuesday, attended parent-teacher conferences for my boys, did something to my neck (slept wrong but it is all better, thank goodness!) on Wednesday into Thursday, attended a high school band concert on Thursday, and did a lot of shopping and Easter preparations on Friday and Saturday.
I’m excited to be back to writing a few posts this week and starting, of course, with a Happy Homemaker Monday post. Be sure and visit Sandra, the host of this great idea, at Diary of a Stay At Home Mom.
Already talked about yesterday a bit. It’s supposed to be in the 60s today and somewhere in the 60s and 70s the rest of the week with a chance of thunderstorms (real spring weather!) later this week. Cold again on Friday but thankfully, no snow.
I am working on this post while waiting for my boys to come home from an overnight at their cousin’s house. Also, I’m slowly working my way through the mess of Easter brunch dishes. I think I have one more load that I can shove in the dishwasher and then, it will be all the wash by hand dishes.
About how excited I am that I took this week off work so I could spend spring break with my boys. Wondering what plans I should make to “drag them places.” Today will be a stay at home day though.
On My T.V.
It was a week of not much t.v. for us (rare) but I did manage to watch most of The Flash on Tuesday and a few Mad Men episodes. My husband and I watched the end of K.U. basketball game on Saturday night and some of The Ten Commandments as well. I need to catch up on The 100 and may do that this week.
I’m hoping we get a chance to watch some movies this week.
I did not do a great job of having a menu plan last week. I admit I’m not in the mood to menu plan this week either but I know I need to do it. I’m so glad I can jump over and look for ideas from Menu Plan Monday, hosted by Laura of I‘m An Organizing Junkie on days when I feel a bit uninspired.
I am going to try to keep it simple this week since we’ll hopefully be out and about having spring break fun.
MONDAY: Brunch leftovers (brisket, ham and cheese Quiche, muffins, fruit, candy)
TUESDAY: Tacos and even on a Tuesday! Taco Tuesday!
WEDNESDAY: Chicken legs cooked in the crock pot
THURSDAY: hamburgers and French fries (we have a lot of buns left from Easter)
To-Do List (top 5)
- Take those same overdue books back to the library. MUST happen this week…
- Plan a few spring break outings
- Sleep past 6a.m. or rather delete the 6a.m. alarms from my phone for this week. I really wish I’d have remembered to delete the 4a.m. one last night but I went back to sleep just fine.
- Review April/May calendar and make sure all the stuff is written down and typed into the Cozi calendar
- Clean out the freezer
Looking Forward To
not getting called into work and spending some time with my boys. Also, not having to get up early every morning.
Looking Around the House
I see the remnants of our Easter brunch yesterday, a few things that need picked up and put away, and bathrooms in need of serious cleaning (note of advice: if you put a child in charge of cleaning a bathroom floor prior to guests coming, check their work!).
From the Camera
Can you believe I forgot to take a single picture of my brunch table yesterday? J helped set it up for me so I’ll just say I was a bit distracted. I did take some pictures of all my pretty flowers this morning though.
Thoughts for the Week
Stumbled across this one on Pinterest last week:
Be the person that makes others feel special. Be known for your kindness and grace. (author unknown)
I started this post earlier this morning and now it’s after 2p.m. It’s been a perfect, lazy spring break kind of day so far. Do you prefer busy activity filled break weeks or are you like my boys and just want to stay home the entire time?
