Happy Homemaker Monday and Menu Plan

I woke up ready to get things done today.  However, I remembered I work half the day.  Then, my oldest woke up (who are we kidding, I went and woke him up) still not feeling well.  Said he was up sick most the night.  He’s going to stay home and sleep today.

I suppose today is going to be titled my motivation vs. Monday morning.  So far, Monday morning has come out swinging.  I still managed to make the bed, unload and load the dishwasher (lazy last night), and start this post just one cup of coffee into the day.  Monday morning’s super weapon, the tween, is still snoozing though.  We shall see what happens especially since it is now time to start the wake up process.

Breakfast time…what is on the plate this morning:

J had French Toast sticks and I had peanut butter granola plus of course, coffee and almond milk.

On Today’s To-Do List

  1. Finish laundry (cleaning sheets will have to be reserved for a day when people aren’t still in their beds).
  2. Finish this blog post and get one other in progress finished and scheduled.
  3. Organize upstairs freezer and if time, tackle downstairs freezer
  4. Clean out my purse
  5. Freshen sinks in bathrooms

Currently Reading

I need a new book!  None of the Kindle First choices for April appealed to me.  I did spend some time reading all my April magazines this weekend.

On the TV today

Probably nothing.  Maybe The Voice later but I won’t be heartbroken if I miss it.

The weather outside is…

Cloudy and cooler than I thought.  It’s in the 50s out there.  I didn’t think it was supposed to rain but it looks like it might.  The rest of the week is supposed to be warmer and in the 70s.

On the menu this week

MONDAY:  Spaghetti and meatballs, salad

TUESDAY:  Arroz con Pollo (chicken & rice)

WEDNESDAY:  Roast in the crock pot

FRIDAY:  Leftovers or OUT

If I have a few minutes to myself, I will

probably play the silly Monkey City game on my phone.

New Recipe I tried or want to try this week

The chicken and rice recipe, I found in my April Martha Stewart Living magazine.  Funny but true and perhaps sad statement on my culinary skills, I looked and looked for saffron in the store yesterday.  I had no idea it was so pricey and that is why it was likely not on the shelves!  I’ll be substituting turmeric “at a great loss of flavor” in my recipe.

In the garden

No garden yet but my lettuce seeds are sprouting!

Growing lettuce in my lettuce container!

Oh, and we have something called Creeping Charlie growing all over our backyard and apparently, it is edible so I guess we can go grazing in our backyard if the world ends and we run out of pantry junk food to eat.

Homemaking Tip

I don’t like to clean but it helps me be a tiny bit more motivated if I buy cleaning supplies that smell good and I actually enjoy using.  Personally, I really love the Method line of cleaning products.

Thought for the Week

Being a leader doesn’t require a title; Having a title doesn’t make you one.  (unknown)

While searching for the source of the above quote, I stumbled across this gem.  Perfect for an election year, don’t you think?

Haha! I know what you mean about Monday winning sometimes Jean. 😉 Over here it’s been okay – didn’t get everything all done, but I wouldn’t say MOnday “won” either.

Hope your son feels better soon!! I love your edible back yard. You’re so funny…but maybe it is a little comforting to know you’ll never starve. Lol!!

Blessings on your week my Dear. xoxo

Thank you. I made him stay home again today. I wonder if there are any healing properties in those edible weeds out there? Hope you are having a great Tuesday!

I never beat Monday’s, LOL. Hope your son is feeling better. Well, your culinary skills are better than mine, what does saffron even look like? Lol. If I don’t know what it is, I skip the recipe entirely.

Hope you got more motivation throughout the week, if you find any extra send it my way!! #sonotmotivated. Hope you have a great weekend!!

I had to look up saffron because it wasn’t in the jar “spice section” of the store so I don’t think my culinary skills are that great. It’s apparently these yellow threads that are extremely flavorful and expensive! It’s in the prepackaged yellow Spanish rice I buy at the store so I’m sticking with that. It’s Thursday and I’m still searching for that motivation, torn between really needing to clean the house and hoping I get called into work so I don’t have to do it and yet I don’t really want to go to work either. Sorry, the motivation isn’t over here…Hope you have a great weekend as well!
