Happy Homemaker Monday and Menu Plan

It’s the last week of school for my boys.  It’s rainy and gloomy outside and I have a million errands to complete.  However, I’m happy to be at home and working on this post this morning.

I could certainly use a plan both for menus and to-do list items this week.  Here’s a glimpse into my upcoming week.

The Weather

Rainy and much too cool for May.  As much as I love my Star Labs Sweatshirt, I should not be digging it out to wear at this point in the year!  It’s supposed to rain all day today and most of tomorrow as well.  It is supposed to thankfully, warm up into the high 60s and low 70s later in the week.

On the breakfast plate

Too much coffee, Trader Joe’s Costa Rican Tarrazu Medium Dark Roast to be precise, I treated myself around Mother’s Day.  It is good stuff.  I also had a bagel and cream cheese.  Interestingly, the Daiya strawberry dairy free spread does not last as long as regular cream cheese.  I was a bit surprised (and happy I checked the dates on the containers) by that fact.

Looking Outside My Window

I can’t see much as the blinds are shut but at the bottom beyond the outline of the cat looking outside the window, I see very green grass.  I can also tell it is gloomy out.

Right Now

I am writing this post, thinking of getting another cup of my good coffee, and thinking of all the things I need to try to cram into the next 3 days.  My boys are older now which means it isn’t a huge deal to run to Target and places by myself but it is still much easier to have a bit of time alone to think and get things done.  Oh, and maybe watch my Netflix and Amazon Prime shows without worry.

Looking Around the House

It looks fairly typical for a Monday morning.  It is surprisingly, not too awful.

Today’s To-Do List

  1. Get thank you cards and a couple more teacher gifts
  2. Have lunch with a friend
  3. Dollar Tree for my body wash
  4. Clean house a bit
  5. Take the boys for haircuts (tonight)

Currently Reading

I finished reading Prodigy by Marie Lu earlier this week.  I need to get the 3rd book to finish reading the series.

On the TV today

I’m hoping to fit in an episode of The Americans.  J finally finished reading Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows and we watched the end of part 1 and the beginning of part 2 of the last 2 movies over the weekend so if he wants to finish watching part 2, I’ll do that with him.

Menu This Week

I’ve been very slowly working through clearing out the pantry and freezer again.  I was so sick of not being able to see what was in there.  I am happy to have a bit of breathing space in our pantry again.  I’ve learned to be a lot more disciplined in my cereal purchases.  Now, I’m taking on the pasta!

Hopefully, I’ll remember to link up my post to Menu Plan Monday hosted by Laura from I’m An Organizing Junkie.  I always find great ideas over there!

Monday:  String Cheese Manicotti, Minestrone soup, salad, and garlic toast  (I realize this may be a bit of an ambitious menu)

Tuesday:  chicken legs cooked in the slow cooker, rice  (I have Bunco!)

Wednesday:  OUT to celebrate the last day of school!!!

Thursday:  Fish Sticks, baked potatoes, and salad (Freezer clean out time!)  (Work for me, sleeping in late for the kids…not fair!)

Friday:  turkey sausages and frozen French Fries or frozen pizza  (Work for me)

Creating At The Moment

Nothing but maybe I’ll take up something once summer official arrives…

New Recipe I want to try

The string cheese manicotti and minestrone soup are both new recipes.

Thank you! This year did go by so fast. I’m hoping summer takes its time a bit. I know it will probably fly by as well though. Hope you are having a great week!

It’s been cold here too! I was freezing all weekend! What body wash do you get from Dollar Tree? I’m always looking for good things to buy there! (Not like I need another excuse to make another stop there lol)

It’s called Oil of Life Moisturizing Body Wash. I still can’t believe I had to turn our heat on in May. Just doesn’t seem right! Hope you are having a great week!
