Tree Branch Tales: The Stories of Our Decorations

It’s time to share the tree branch tales with you all.  Each one of our Christmas decorations tells a story.  I’ve decided to pick one each day between now and Christmas and share its story.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

Our Christmas tree changed last year and I was not entirely happy about it.  I still miss our too big for the living room tree pictured above.  It was an obnoxious tree, the kind where each separate tree branch must be pegged in the correct order.

We won’t even talk about the year my husband decided it would be a good idea to only put up half of that tree.  Suffice it to say not such a brilliant idea after all.

I’m not even sure if pre-lit Christmas trees existed when we purchased it.  It was a huge tree with lots of room for ornaments and that was my reasoning on insisting on this much too big tree.  It also reminded me of the tree I picked out with my dad one year.

There were still branches to be filled last year when I finally admitted defeat and went with my husband to purchase a new “skinny” Christmas tree that fits much better in our small living room.

Last year’s new tree

Thankfully, room remains even on this much too small tree to add more ornaments.  I make it a tradition to give each of my boys a new ornament each Christmas.  A tradition I’m not ready to stop any time soon.

I’ve realized the tree is just a base.  Each ornament is the true story and beauty of Christmas.

I’ll be sharing these ornament stories in no particular order.  Some stories might be short and others a bit longer.  Sometimes I might even tell tales of decorations not hanging on the tree.

Do you have a favorite Christmas tree ornament or holiday decoration?

That sounds like a good idea. I might have to do a similar post about some of our ornaments. I probably won’t do it daily, but maybe one or 2 posts. I love hearing about how other people get their decorations for their homes. Have a good weekend.

Thank you! I’d love it if you joined in and shared some posts about your Christmas decorations. I had thought at first of doing this as a link-up but decided to keep it simple since December is such a busy month anyway. If you do those posts, please put a link to your blog in the comments so I don’t miss your great posts 🙂 Hope you are having a great weekend!
