Happy Homemaker Monday, Goodbye January!

Can you believe today is the last day of January?  Talk about a whirlwind start to our new year. In keeping with my determination to post a Happy Homemaker Monday each week in 2017, here’s my post.

The Weather

Spring is teasing us this week!  It was 64 degrees when I took my break at work yesterday (reason for my Monday post showing up on a Tuesday) and is supposed to be just slightly cooler today.  Winter returns later in the week when it will only be in the 30s.

On My Reading Pile

I need to return books to the library as well as pick up some new ones.  After finishing Midnight Star by Marie Lu (a good series, definitely better than her Legend trilogy as far character development), the only thing currently on my pile is Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire.

Probably not a whole lot this week.  Last week I did watch the entire Travelers series on Netflix.  I found it to be a fun and intriguing science fiction series.  We also had a bit of  a Matt Damon movie marathon over the weekend where we watched all the  Jason Bourne movies (Christmas gift) with the exception of the newest one.

The struggle for interesting menus continues.  Balancing out the problem of the picky family is my current quest to clean out our pantry, fridge, and freezer.  I need to get back to checking out all the fun menus over at the Menu Plan Mondays hosted by Laura from I’m An Organizing Junkie.

MONDAY:  We had tacos.  I worked all day and my husband choose this one.

TUESDAY:  Crispy Parmesan Garlic Chicken, Rotini noodles *G has pep band*

WEDNESDAY:   Fish/shrimp (from freezer), baked potatoes *Mom’s Night Out*

THURSDAY:  Chili (from freezer)  *I work 9 to 5*

FRIDAY:  French Toast and Sausage (from freezer) *I work 8 to 4*

To Do List

  1. Go to the grocery store
  2. Call and make hair appointment
  3. Get card/present for husband’s birthday next week
  4. Clean out freezers
  5. Finish Organizing pantry, it’s cleaned out but I need a new system to keep it from reverting to chaos

Nothing at the moment but I really want to get out there and work on taking some photos this week especially since the weather is going to be so nice.

Looking Around The House

Nothing new, it needs cleaning especially the bathrooms.  An item that should probably be on the to-do list up there.

From The Camera

I made a mango pie last week and had some crust left so I cut into hearts and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar to bake.  This pattern was left on my work area:

Something Fun To Share

I’m drawing a blank on this one.  Uh, it’s apparently national zebra day?  I had no idea.

What I’m Wearing

long-sleeved blue shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes.

Simple Pleasure

The soft purr of our silly little cat.  Of course, if her soft purr puts me back to sleep on a Monday morning, things don’t stay so simple (a glimpse of my yesterday).

Quote for the Week

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.  (Proverbs 4:23)

Three of the four of us really do like the mango pie, my youngest is the only hold out but he’s not a fan of apple pie either so I’m not sure we can count his vote 😉 The cinnamon sugar hearts made a better pattern than they did a treat.

Always nice to catch up with you Jean! Wow I can’t imagine anywhere near the 60’s degrees. Must feel heavenly!

Your menu sounds yummy and I may need to check out that parmesan garlic chicken. Mmmm
I love the pie heart leftover cinnamon art. 😉 Do you put fresh mango in the pie? I’ve never had one like that.

    Blessings on your week! xoxo

It is wonderful to go out without worrying too much about a jacket although I wouldn’t mind if we could have at least one decent snowfall and maybe a true snow day for all of us. Just one though 😉 Yes, the mango pie uses fresh mango. My husband said he thought it tasted like apple the first time I made it but I didn’t think so and it’s a nice change of pace as far as desserts go. Hope your week is going well so far!

If you figure out the system to keep the pantry straight, will you share? LOL Seems like a never ending battle. LOVE your quote this week. Have a great week.

I’ll gladly share if I do figure it out but so far all I’ve figured out is don’t put so much stuff in there that you don’t know what you have any more. Thanks, hope you have a great week as well.
