Is it proper to say “Bah Humbug” for all holidays or is the expression exclusively reserved for Christmas? While the sunrise was indeed spectacular this morning, my mood is closer to Monday gloom.
Here’s to hoping today’s Happy Homemaker Monday post can help me snap out of it a bit as I attempt to plan my week. Be sure to check out our host, Sandra’s blog, Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom for the link up.
Highs in the low 40s today with a slight chance of rain but by the end of this week we are again looking at highs near 70. I remember last winter was mild like this as well before a late March snowfall. Still not going to complain.
On My Bedside Table
Same mess as last week although cleaning it is on my to-do list today.
On My Reading Pile
Finished 3 books last week: Man In The High Castle by Philip K. Dick, The Fever Code by James Dashner. and Forty Ways To Look At Winston Churchill by Gretchen Rubin. The Philip K. Dick novel was just weird (as expected). I found myself a little bit disappointed by the James Dashner book. It was a bit hard to get into although it may have just been too long since I’d read the rest of the series. I thoroughly enjoyed Rubin’s take on Churchill and plan to check out her other biographies, it seems she wrote one on Kennedy.
On My TV
Watched most of The Martian (fell asleep and yes, I did just recently watch that movie) on Friday since I plan to start that book next.
Last night I also watched The Grammy Awards show as I’ve been a fan of James Corden ever since I saw him an episode of Doctor Who.
Hey, a benefit of having a teenager: I had heard of almost all the singers this year! My favorite moment was not the carpool karaoke thing but rather when Twenty One Pilots won and accepted their award in their undies (while sharing a little story how they said if they ever won…).
Also, started watching the Frequency series on Netflix, hoping they didn’t cancel it already as I am enjoying it.
We officially ate the end of the leftover meals from the freezer last night! Mixed blessing as now I have to plan meals to actually cook again. Today I’m moving over to the fridge and cleaning it out (again).
MONDAY: Honey-Garlic Slow Cooker Chicken Thighs (trying something new & still emptying out the freezer a bit) *G has pep band*
TUESDAY: Valentine’s Day Dinner (Probably just going to order pizza or maybe make our own plus a frozen one for G if we go that route), Angel Food Cake & Strawberries for dessert *I work 9-1* *G has pep band*
THURSDAY: Spaghetti & Meatballs, salad *I work 8:30-3:45*
FRIDAY: Hoping I can talk my husband into making hamburgers on the grill *I work 7:15-3:30*
On My To-Do List
- Clean out purse
- Take trash out of car
- Clear off bedside table
- Clean off dresser
- Clean off desk…..have you figured out the theme of my to-do list yet?
- Oh, and go to the store, maybe Target also
J and I created ooblek and homemade dish soap silly putty (I have issues with it being titled this) on Saturday night.
I could say a disaster in the kitchen…
The dish soap silly putty was a fun, easy to make sensory activity. Some day we’ll try to create the true silly putty.
Looking Forward To
My hair appointment on Saturday!
Looking Around The House
Clutter and needs a good cleaning. It’s time to start experimenting with all the cleaning schedules from Pinterest.
From The Camera
I went for a walk on Saturday, back to Waterfall park on the small path from a parking area to the play area that runs along the road.
Spotted these confused milkweed pods mixed in with the withering hydrangea on the fence in our backyard.
What I’m Wearing Today
Floral, blue short-sleeved top and blue corduroys, tennis shoes
Grocery shopping as long as I’m not rushed.
Quote For The Week
This Winston Churchill quote from the book I just read gave me a chuckle:
“Where there is a great deal of free speech there is always a certain amount of foolish speech.”
Do you have big plans for the week?
