Happy Homemaker Monday,

Today, I’m happy it’s Monday and happy to be at home for it! Holiday weekends and celebrations are wonderful but it’s always nice for me to get back to a bit of a routine.

Or enjoy the peace and quiet of an empty house while everyone else goes back to work and school.  After a busy out-of-town weekend, an argument over homework (Dear Teachers of Seventh Grade Students, assigning homework over holiday breaks is not cool and sort of like punishment for parents!), and a rough morning, I feel like I’ve earned my time in the quiet today.

Time to join in with Sandra over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom and plan the week ahead with Happy Homemaker Monday.

Breakfast Time…What Is On The Plate This Morning

Scrambled egg with a few pieces of leftover bacon mixed in it, toast, and coffee.  Trying to limit the sweet stuff.

Right Now I Am

Working on this post, thinking about the things I do need to do today as well as that I need to jump in the shower.

The Weather Outside

Really nice! It was already in the 50s when I returned from dropping J off at school this morning.  It’s supposed to be almost 70 degrees later this afternoon.

The highs are all supposed to be in the 50s for the rest of the week, seems typical for late November lately.

Looking Around The House

It’s in a bit of a transition, the Christmas tree is up and partially decorated, the Thanksgiving stuff needs to go down to the basement, and then there’s the usual piles from the weekend.

On Today’s To Do List

  1. LAUNDRY
  2. Finish putting away Thanksgiving decorations/put up a bit more Christmas
  3. Grocery Store
  4. Maybe some Cyber Monday shopping
  5. Clean House
  6. Gather up a few items for charity truck coming Friday

Currently Reading

Haven’t started any new books yet but I have a pile of library books waiting! I’ll probably just glance through the November magazines today before tossing them in the recycle bin.

On The TV Today

Not sure what I’ll watch while folding laundry. Depends on my mood.  Maybe the Game of Thrones disc so we can send it back (My husband watched the episodes without me!).

On The Menu This Week

Definitely craving lighter fare after a weekend full of heavier meals and eating on the road (we traveled to Oklahoma to spend Thanksgiving with my husband’s aunt and grandparents).  We probably won’t stick to this order, the fish depends on when my husband’s schedule best allows him to fix it for us.

MONDAY: Taco Salads (taco meat in freezer)

TUESDAY: Chicken legs (in freezer, leftover from J’s birthday)

WEDNESDAY: Chili (not light but J’s requested it a few times now and I can freeze leftovers for a busy day next month), cornbread

THURSDAY: Crock pot Cashew Chicken, rice or noodles

FRIDAY:  Crappie, corn, garlic bread *I work 8-4*

If I Have A Few Minutes To Myself, I Will

Get outside and enjoy this beautiful weather!

New Recipe I Tried Or Want To Try This Week

The Crock Pot Cashew Chicken will be new.

Looking Forward To This Week

Weirdly, I’m looking forward to working on Friday.

Happy Monday, Jean! I enjoyed reading your post and, yes, I quite agree…it’s time for a lighter fare after all the heavier holiday foods. When I feel like working on my menu plans that’s going to be my goal, too. I didn’t make it to the Plaza over Thanksgiving, but I thought of you anyway when we went to the drive-thru display at Longview Lake. It wasn’t nearly as exciting as the Plaza, but it was pretty and someplace we had never been and, since our daughter really wanted to take us there, we went. It was fun! I’m wishing you a great week ahead and may many blessing be yours as we enter this holiday season!

Thank you! Just got back from the grocery store and still trying to figure out how my lighter fare ended up making the grocery bill so heavy, ha! Probably shouldn’t have went shopping hungry but I skipped going yesterday and wanted to make sure I went today. The drive-thru display at Longview Lake is fun also. Did you ever visit Chicago Street in the Blue Springs area when you lived around here? Sadly, they don’t do that one any more but I always enjoyed it when we went. Hope you are feeling better today and on your way to a great week!

Yes, the Chicago Street lights were just down the street and around the corner from where we lived. My husband went to school with Steve Steiner (the guy who started that) and it was always a favorite. Someone was telling me over Thanksgiving that it wasn’t there anymore. I couldn’t believe it! They said that the city of Buckner bought the display and that, even though you can see it there, it’s not set up in such a way as to tell the complete story in order like it was in Blue Springs. Sad. 🙁 Am feeling some better. I think I’m on my way up. Talk to you again soon!

Thank you! I love being around people but I have to have some alone time as well or I get a bit grumpy. Hope your Saturday is off to a wonderful start.
