Happy Homemaker Monday, Wish It Was Sunday

Today’s certainly been a manic one.  Heard the song on the way home from work and thought it appropriate for today. Bit of a long day at work so it’s a Monday evening post from me.

However, I still wanted to join in for Happy Homemaker Monday.  Having a plan in place (even if I don’t follow it) helps give a bit of sanity to these long days of work and busy weeks.

Breakfast Time…What Is Was On The Plate This Morning

A Chobani Yogurt Flip and Coffee

On My To-Do List

  1. Go to grocery store Done last night
  2. Pay bills
  3. Write and publish this blog post (meal plan)
  4. Sort out spring clothing
  5. Take boys for haircuts

Currently Reading

Slowly working my way through The Naughty Nineties: The Triumph Of The American Libido by David Friend.  However, I also started reading The Little Book Of Lykke: The Danish Search For The World’s Happiest People by Meik Wiking.  I’m really enjoying it. A great read for warm spring days on the front porch.

On The TV This Week

I spent Sunday, my I don’t have to run day, watching The Lord Of The Rings trilogy of movies (and folding a little laundry).  If you aren’t familiar with the movies, suffice it to say it was another too much TV kind of weekend.

Tonight I’ll watch The Voice with my husband and maybe the show after it.  And then Wednesday, probably The Goldbergs, that new show after it, and then, Seal Team. Planning to spend more time on the porch reading than watching yet more TV.

The Weather Outside Is

Slowly improving.  Last night, snow flurries were flying as I ran to the grocery store. Generally in April, I don’t throw a snow scraper in the back seat of the car “just in case.”

Thankfully, it warmed up to the 50s by this afternoon.

Warming back toward the 60s and 70s for the rest of our week and more rain is supposed to arrive, just in time for the weekend. Snow/Cold/Rain every weekend is a bit tedious.

On The Menu This Week

Glad I did a little minor menu planning last night so I had something in mind for tonight.  Now, time to tackle the rest of the week.

First, a look back toward the plan from last week. With my husband unexpectedly leaving town for a few days, our menu veered slightly off course:

MONDAY: Easy Slow Cooker Chicken Salsa Verde We had the meatball Parmesan casserole

TUESDAY: Meatball Parmesan Casserole I picked up McDonald’s for the boys and myself on my way home from work

WEDNESDAY: Pork Chops, Sweet Potatoes (I also went ahead and cooked the Chicken Salsa Verde on this day)

THURSDAY:  Taco salads, rice Easy Slow Cooker Chicken Salsa Verde

FRIDAY: Hot dogs on the grill, left-overs  We ordered pizza

Saturday we had leftover pizza and yesterday we had regular tacos.

So moving on to this week…another busy work week for me…

MONDAY: We had waffles (from a mix) and sausage *I worked 8:15-3:45*

TUESDAY: Sweet Potato/Kielbasa bake, hot dogs for boys *I work 12-4:15* *Bunco night for me*

WEDNESDAY: Bacon wrapped chicken, baked potatoes (may also make a roast in the crock pot)

THURSDAY: BBQ sandwiches (from roast if I make one, if not from brisket in freezer leftover from Easter) *I work 8:00-4:00*

FRIDAY: Leftovers or OUT

If I Have A Few Minutes To Myself I Will

Pick up the camera! Go outside! Read! Go for a walk!

What I’m Knitting, Sewing, or Creating

Still nothing….

New Recipe I Tried Or Want To Try This Week

The Meatball Parmesan Casserole was a new one. I didn’t mind the idea of the recipe but didn’t care for the meatballs I used and so the dish lost some appeal in that way. Boys would have (no surprise) rather had plain spaghetti and meatballs.

Favorite Photo From The Camera

I did a poor job of picking up the camera last week. Here’s another one of my Carolina Wren…

Thanks! Haven’t seen him since I snapped that picture but I worked a full schedule last week so he may have been around while I wasn’t home.
