Happy Homemaker Monday, Busy Days Ahead

My plan to spend part of last week with camera in hand fell through. I spent most of it working. Still, a happy week. Just a busy one.

While this week seems to have a bit of breathing room, my entire May calendar exploded with events in the past week.  What about you?  Let’s make sure we take some time to just breathe this week.

While I hope to sneak in a bit more blogging, it’s possible that you’ll only see my Happy Homemaker Monday posts for the next few weeks. Definitely plan to stick to following through on posting every week since it’s one of my 18 things for 2018.

And of course, I’m grateful that our host, Sandra over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom does this fun link-up every week. Be sure to visit her!

Oh, and I should mention, this is another Sunday edition as I’m working a full day again tomorrow. On to the categories!

Breakfast Time…What Is On The Plate This Morning

Since Monday’s a full day of working at the preschool, it’ll be a Chobani Flip Yogurt, gotta get in that protein! Probably, the newest strawberry shortcake flavor but I may end up going with the peanut butter one.

On My To-Do List

  1. Clean the house! It’s much-needed.
  2. Boys still need haircuts
  3. Send cards to Grandpa in Oklahoma
  4. Pay a couple of straggling bills
  5. Gather items for charity truck coming on Friday

Currently Reading

Finished up The Little Book of Lykke: The Danish Search For The World’s Happiest People by Meik Wiking.  You can read my review over on Good Reads if interested.  Suffice it to say I enjoyed the happy book and promptly added his Little Book of Hygge to my “want to read list.”

Now, I’m back to reading about those naughty nineties. It’s a bit of a tedious read (hello, footnotes) but in an enjoyable way. Not something I think anyone not a fan of nonfiction could probably endure.  Oh, the proper title of what I’m reading is The Naughty Nineties: The Triumph Of The American Libido by David Friend.

On The TV This Week

The Voice, The Flash, and my Wednesday night favorites of The Goldbergs, whatever that new show is called that’s after it, and then, I think Seal Team is actually on again this week. Oh, and I may watch the one tonight about the magician helping the FBI.

Over the weekend, I caught up a bit on DC: Legends of Tomorrow via Netflix. Such dumb plot-lines on that show but still enjoyable. I have to respect a show that embraces its own stupidity. That and has John Noble as a guest star voice of the villain.

The Weather Outside Is

It did not snow this weekend! It did, however, rain today. I’ll take the rain. The rest of the week promises sunshine and temperatures in the 60s and 70s. Speaking very softly, she wonders shall spring finally arrive?

On The Menu This Week

Fresh out of ideas and motivation. Let’s look at last week and see if I find inspiration or if not that, perhaps some unused meal ideas to carry over to this week.

MONDAY: Waffles and sausage

TUESDAY: Sweet Potato/Kielbasa bake (hot dogs for the boys)

WEDNESDAY: Bacon wrapped chicken plus plans to maybe also make a roast  I unexpectedly worked a full day, we had leftover brisket sandwiches (from the freezer)

THURSDAY: BBQ sandwiches from brisket or roast Thank God for rotisserie chicken from the grocery store

FRIDAY: Leftovers or OUT Weird to cross out, OUT but my husband made us hamburgers

SATURDAY: My nephew spent the night and we ordered pizza

SUNDAY:  Leftovers, pizza for most of us, J had French Toast sticks

Not much inspiration there…whole menu may be subject to change after I go to the grocery store, I guess on Tuesday.

MONDAY: Needs to be easy since I work all day, maybe taco salads *I work 8:30-5:30*

TUESDAY: Bacon Wrapped Chicken

WEDNESDAY: Roast in Crock pot

THURSDAY: Shrimp (from box in freezer) and baked potatoes

FRIDAY: Probably OUT *I work 10:30-3:30*

If I Have A Few Minutes To Myself I Will

Breathe. Go Outside. Take Pictures. Read My Book. Work On The Blog.

What I’m Knitting, Sewing, Or Creating

Ideas in my head of how I want the house to look.  Starting with clean.

New Recipe I Tried Or Want To Try This Week

Not sure.  Probably need to figure out some new after school snacks for the boys since it’s testing week for J and G will have End of Course exams coming up soon as well.

Quote For The Week

You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope some day you’ll join us. And the world will live as one.  (John Lennon)

On top of working all last week, I helped J sort through songs for his writing assignment. He didn’t pick this song but it’s been stuck in my head all week so I thought I’d share it.

What’s on your agenda for the week?

Breathing. Thanks for the reminder, Jean. I have so many things going on…so many things I want to do…so many things that I NEED to do. Sometimes I just don’t know where to start or what to do first. Just remembering to breathe can go a long way in helping to clear the mind and figure it out. Again, thanks for the reminder. Loved the John Lennon video. Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed week ahead, my friend! <3

Right now I’m pretending to take time to breathe but I think what I’m actually doing is procrastinating on cleaning out the cat box, ha! I’ll actually breathe (not while cleaning the cat box though) in a minute here. Hope you have a wonderful week.

Thanks, I’m going to try to savor this (hopefully) slower week before the May insanity arrives. Hope you have a not too busy and wonderful week over there!

I am also entering that busy month of May. I am so happy because I looked at my planner for tomorrow and there is NOTHING on my schedule. It is the last day for a while that has nothing on it. Hopefully I can be productive in some form. Hope you have a great week!

This week’s been a slow one for me and I’ve been trying to balance getting things done around the house with relaxing (obviously, I didn’t do much in the area of blogging). Hope you found some time to relax as well as be productive on your free day!
