Happy Homemaker Monday

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend.

My boys showed me a really nice Mother’s Day. Flowers on the kitchen table from my husband, cards from G and J plus a new movie and a gift card to eat out. Followed by dinner out at Fazolis (we like it better than most the expensive places and added bonus it wasn’t crowded at all) and then dessert at Dairy Queen.

Glad to have the morning to work on my post and plan out the week. Don’t forget to go join in the fun with Sandra (our host) and the other bloggers linking up over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom.

The Weather

Pretty humid this morning with an expected high of 85 and a chance for storms this afternoon and tonight.  Typical May weather. Same for the rest of the week, sunny with a slight chance of storms. Highs in the mid 80s. I’ll take it!

Right Now I Am

Working on this post, pondering what to eat for breakfast, and thinking about jumping in the shower before I finish the post. Also, glad I threw laundry all over the bed already so I can’t give into the temptation to go back to bed.

Glad to be making this post as I have a lot to do this week and so have all those little tasks on my mind.

On My Reading Pile

Finished Better Than Before: Mastering The Habits Of Our Everyday Lives by Gretchen Rubin. As I read it, I realized I had at least read parts of it at some other time. Still it was a book worth a re-read and made me think about some habits I’d like to add. Started Under The Wide And Starry Sky by Nancy Horan.  I’m thinking it should be a fairly quick read.

On My TV

So they cancelled two of the new shows I’d started watching, Deception and Alex, Inc. Both were cute, silly shows but probably not worthy of a Twitter campaign to save them.  Will probably just watch The Voice this week as we have activities during my other two shows I like to watch.

It’s so nice out, I’d rather be outside than watching television. G gave me the latest Thor movie for Mother’s Day so I may start that while folding laundry.

Something Interesting I Watched

My baby robins testing their wings and leaving the nest with their parents standing guard nearby. Made me think of all the graduations happening this month.

(I also went to see Avengers: Infinity War at the movie theater. No spoilers but certainly not my favorite movie and definitely not for the younger crowd simply because it’s a lot to process.)

What I Found While Surfing The Net

Something excellent! They’re making a 3rd installment of the Bill And Ted’s Excellent Adventure.

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter signed on for the project per The Hollywood Reporter!

I loved these movies. Will it likely be extremely stupid? Yep. Will I go see it anyway? Absolutely!

On The Menu For This Week

Still trying to expand our vegetable horizons a bit!

MONDAY: Tacos *I work 3-6*, probably taco salad for me, maybe everyone

TUESDAY: BUNCO for me (I’m hosting and thinking of a picnic theme)

WEDNESDAY: Frozen pizza (pizza salad for me) *J’s induction into JNHS*

THURSDAY: Pork chops, baked sweet potatoes (carry over) *I work 12-5*

FRIDAY: Asian inspired Flat Iron Steak, rice, broccoli *I work 8:15-4*

SATURDAY: Hamburgers, jicama fries

Bunco menu coming in separate post!

On My To-Do List

Too much!

  1. Pay bills
  2. Make sure J has “nice” clothes for Wed
  3. Make Bunco menu, get stuff, host Bunco on Tues
  4. Grocery store
  5. Laundry
  6. Still need to clean J’s room and this desk
  7. Clean house
  8. Mail out graduation card
  9. Mow lawn
  10. Get flea medicine for cat

I’m sure there’s more…

In The Craft Basket

Still working on my outside flower garden area. Added another actual basket of purple pansies to the area. They smell amazing!

Looking Forward To

Bunco! Seeing J’s induction into the Junior National Honor Society.  Is it too early in the week to say the weekend?!

Looking Around The House

Bed’s covered in laundry, still need to unload/reload dishwasher in kitchen (I let it go last night), and every other room also needs attention.

From The Camera

playing with the close up setting on the camera…

Quote For The Week

Imperfect action is better than perfect inaction.  (attributed to Harry S Truman but I couldn’t confirm it by my quick research)

Are you making it through the busy month of May? What’s on your agenda this week?

Thank you. I’d love to be at the point where I automatically knew how to work my camera but I still have a long way to go. It is fun to just play around with it though. Hope you also have a great week!

Thank you! I’ve never made them before so I’m hoping they’ll be a hit around here. My boys like raw jicama (yuck! from me) and I think it tastes like raw potato so I’m really curious about the recipe. Hope you have a wonderful week as well!

Thank you for the recipe link.
I am putting that on my list for next week!
This week we have homeschooling, a visit to see my Mom to celebrate Mother’s Day, and a party for Rhett’s 16th birthday!
    Have a cozy week. : )

Thank you. I’m trying to work through the recipes I’ve pinned to see if I can liven up our menus and find a few new keepers to throw into the rotation of spaghetti, tacos, and pork chops. Sounds like you have a wonderful week ahead of you!

I was a bit sad and surprised as I enjoyed the somewhat different twist on the basic mystery type show. Thank you. Hope you have a great week also!

So glad you had a lovely Mother’s Day Jean! Such a hard working Mama deserves that for sure! 😉
I loved the Bill & Ted movies too. How totally awesome that there will be another!! Lol
I love your garden and flower pics and envy them. We’re just finally getting some leaves on the trees and greening some up north. I have seen some tulips up and my daffodils are getting there. Life in the north. ::sigh::
Have a blessed rest of the week. xoox

Thanks, can’t believe another week flew by already. I’m usually more on top of my blog commenting than this. Hope you’ve had a wonderful week and weekend!
