Happy Homemaker Monday, Summer Is Officially Arriving

Even though we’ve been under a heat advisory all weekend, it’s still been spring!

We can officially say it’s summer now. Time to do a little planning to see what’s ahead around here.

Summer may not be as busy but it’s still nice to have a plan for my weeks. Time to join in with Sandra, our host, over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom for her weekly link-up.

Of course, just because I say summer’s not as busy doesn’t make it so. Yet another Sunday night post in these parts with a half-day of work scheduled for my Monday morning.

The Weather

We’ve been under the heat advisory since Friday, I think.  Just means it’s been above 90-95 degrees with heat indexes 100+ all this time. It is a bit strange for it to still be 80 degrees at midnight and first thing in the morning.

Down into the low 80’s during the daytime for the rest of the week. And we have a decent chance for some much-needed rain on Wednesday.

Right Now I Am

Working on this post while enjoying an Izze sparkling juice, blackberry flavor, as I wonder what I’m going to wear to work in the morning.

Thinking

I’m very grateful the computer repair shop around the corner could not only fix my desktop computer but also save my stuff! Time to get very serious about backing my stuff up on to flash drives. I’ve been very lax about it but this time certainly scared me enough to make it a priority.

And I do suppose, it was time for me to let go of Windows 7 and join in on having Windows 10 like the rest of the world. Thankfully, G’s been helping me out a bit with things though it’s not proving to be as awful as I anticipated.

On My Reading Pile

I only read one e-book last week, The Phoenix Descent by Chuck Grossart.  A good, thriller page-turner type of book. Slightly scary but not too much.

My back from the library titles include:

  1. The Little Book of Hygge by Meik Wiking
  2. Life Moves Pretty Fast (The Lessons We Learned From Eighties Movies) by Hadley Freeman
  3. Lighthouse Beach by Shelley Noble
  4. Where There’s Hope by Elizabeth Smart
  5. I’m Proud of You (My Friendship With Fred Rogers) by Tim Madigan

On My TV

My husband just loves it when I discover home decor shows on Netflix. (Sarcasm)

I’ve been enjoying The House Doctor. An American designer helps British home owners struggling to sell their properties.  It’s inspiring me to clean/decorate our house. And I’m also enjoying the glimpse of all the different types of homes and places in England.

Something Interesting I Watched

We took my husband to see The Incredibles 2 for Father’s Day. We all enjoyed it. Funny to think J wasn’t even born yet when the first movie was out (14 years ago).

What I Found While Surfing The Net

Not too much of that this week with a broken computer but I did stumble across this interesting color calculator tool today.

On The Menu This Week

Last week’s already a bit of a blur. Let’s see if I can even remember:

MONDAY: Pork chops I bought already cooked ribs at the store

TUESDAY: Spaghetti Some days are just frozen pizza days no matter what’s actually planned

WEDNESDAY: Pancakes and Bacon We ate the pork chops this night

THURSDAY: Hamburgers My husband made spaghetti

FRIDAY: OUT/Leftovers J had subway, both boys spent the night with their cousin, I had Lucky Charms and my husband had left over spaghetti

Weekend: Saturday we had Wings and Things for lunch and pizza for dinner. Sunday was a day for leftovers (plus movie popcorn)

Let’s see what we’ll have this week…one day we’ll have Tacos out at my husband’s favorite restaurant since it didn’t work out today.

MONDAY: Rotisserie Chicken, salad *I work 8-1* *G has band camp 3-6* (Lunch: On their own)

TUESDAY:   BBQ sandwiches (roast in the crock pot) *I have Bunco* *G has band camp 3-6* (Lunch: Leftover chicken, maybe chicken nachos)

WEDNESDAY:  Steak, still haven’t fixed it *I have a hair appointment* *G has band camp 3-6* (Lunch: Breakfast for lunch, wait isn’t that brunch?)

THURSDAY: Tacos/out (Lunch: Mozzarella sticks)

FRIDAY:  Hamburgers, hot dogs *Boys’ younger cousin is spending the night* (Lunch: maybe fish?)

On My To Do List

  1. Get a new mouse for computer (the right-click button keeps sticking)
  2. Everything from last week (!) except the library trip (at least I did one thing)
  3. Take G for his driver’s license exam
  4. Work on blog posts
  5. Relax and enjoy slower pace of summer

In The Craft Basket

Still nothing but lots of ideas…

Looking Forward To

Still excited for the 30 Days of Summer series I’m doing with Rebecca from Rebecca’s Hearth And Home. Our first link up will be this Thursday! You can check out this post on Rebecca’s blog as well as this post right here for more information.

Looking Around The House

Needs a good clutter clearing and then, I have so many ideas of things I’d like to do.

From The Camera

Haven’t quite figured out how to edit photos in Windows 10 but I’m just grateful they’re still here.  A couple of photos snapped from a walk around the block last Monday or Tuesday:

Quote For The Week

Enjoyed reading your post this morning, Jean! Will be glad when this heat breaks! It’s ridiculous! We went straight from cold to hot and can’t seem to get it shut off! LOL! Am looking forward to our summer writing adventure. I just hope that I can keep up. Summer is ten times busier for me than the rest of the year. But, at least I’m looking forward to the challenge of it this year. Usually that’s not the case. Well…I better get started on my HHM post. Have a nice day and a great week ahead! TTYL! <3

Thank you! Feels a bit better out there this morning/afternoon. I’m sure you’ll keep up fine with our writing adventure, just remember it’s supposed to be fun not stressful! 🙂

Whew! I would not do well with that heat. Yes, you do some big lake cool off about now. 🙂

We need to get a new tv so I can get netflix! Our main one hubby and I use upstairs isn’t compatible. It could be a dangerous thing too. I would be mesmerized for days binge watching all kinds of things. Lol! I want to see Incredibles 2 but surprisingly Annie isn’t as hip on it. And I KNOW my hubby wouldn’t go see it. 😛

Love the sweet bunny pic. And love your quote too. Blessings on the week ahead my Dear. Looking forward to the summer blog series too – pretty soon now!! xoxo

Ha, I probably wouldn’t do well with your winter temps! It’s cooled off a bit for us today at least. Netflix is fun but can certainly be a dangerous thing. Hope you have a great week!

So far this week has been unusually cool here but oh so stormy. I’m done with storms, done, done, done.

I read that J wasn’t born when the first Incredible came out as I wasn’t born and had to do a triple take lol.
And oh that baby duck is just too precious!!! I had a lot of fun watching the baby ducks on our little pond early in the spring here.

Send us a few storms or rather just the rain. Hope you see some sun very soon. Ha! That would be something, I’m not quite that young, LOL. Hope you’re having a great week!
