Happy Homemaker Monday, Last Week of June

Yes, you read that right. It’s already the last week of June!

I guess I could state the usual stuff about the pace of the year. Instead, let’s change things from thinking it’s the last week of June to thinking it’s the first full week of actual summer. There, that’s better.

Time to join Sandra over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom and plan the week.

The Weather

Oh, what a sense of humor Mother Nature shares with us. After a heat advisory the last week of spring, chilly would describe the first few days of summer. Thankfully, the summer weather returns this week.  We start with the low 80′ and thunderstorms today and tomorrow followed by the 90’s for the rest of the week. Did I hear someone say swimming pool weather?

Right Now I Am

drinking coffee and trying to wake up a bit more as I enjoy a quiet summer morning with my husband off to work and the boys still sleeping.

I should have went to bed earlier last night and how I’m going to pay the price when I work later today.  Since I go in at 1, no time for a quick nap if I want to get anything done around here. The temptation to go back to bed is strong as well. However, it’s almost 9 and I would like to get a few things done this morning.

On My Reading Pile

Read 2 complete books last week, made progress in a third, and started a new one! First I started and then, finished because it was too intense to put down, Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine.  Of course, after that I had to seek out the second book in the series, Killman Creek. Both books I read on the kindle app on my phone. The first was a free Amazon prime kindle choice I’d never started.

I’ve just about finished Life Moves Pretty Fast :The Lessons We Learned From Eighties Movies (And Why We Don’t Learn Them From Movies Anymore)  by Hadley Freeman.  My “fun” read turned out to be pretty thought-provoking.

And finally, an e-book on reserve with the library system arrived so I started reading that one as well. It’s another Maddie Dawson book entitled The Opposite of Maybe. It’s fitting the title of “fun” summer read as I expected.

On My TV

Not too much although J and I did watch How To Drain Your Dragon 2 on Friday night.  He loves those movies and needed some time with me, I think. Then, yesterday I sat and watched Ghostbusters, my book put me in an eighties movie mood.

Something Interesting I Watched

These videos from Jenny’s Mini Cooking fascinate me:

What I Found While Surfing The Net

A recipe for S’mores fudge. I may try it.

On The Menu This Week

Let’s skip looking back at last week and just suffice it to say we didn’t follow the plan. Here’s the plan we probably won’t follow for this week:

MONDAY: BBQ sandwiches made from roast in the crock pot *I work 1-6*

TUESDAY: BLT’s, or maybe waffles but I’ve been craving a BLT

WEDNESDAY: Chicken, either marinated or simply chicken strips

THURSDAY: Possibly OUT or leftover BBQ/clean out the freezer *I have a funeral to attend, then may have to work until 6, depends on who they can find to cover my hours* *J spending the night with a friend*

FRIDAY:  Maybe we’ll finally fix that steak! *I work 1-6*

On My To-Do List

  1. Pay bills (must do this one!)
  2. Work on blog posts for summer series
  3. Take boys to Toys R Us for final visit (their last day is Friday)
  4. Grocery store/clean out fridge and freezer
  5. Target
  6. Work on cleaning out art supply cabinet
  7. Have boys (especially J) clean their rooms!

In The Craft Basket

Same as last week, nothing.

Looking Forward To

Is it too soon in the week to say the weekend? Not that we have anything planned (yet).

Looking Around The House

Couldn’t tell you what I did last week but it didn’t involve much cleaning. Might need to be better about it this week.

From The Camera

Still need to work on learning to edit with Windows 10.  We seem to have quite a few bunnies hanging around lately. Spotted this young one while J and I were walking part way around the block, looking for a deer I saw while coming home (of course, the deer was long gone).  And a dove stopped by to say hello last week as well.

Thank you! Now if summer would just cooperate and be warm and sunny enough to go to the pool on a day when I’m not at work instead of raining (much needed but I want to go swimming!). Hope you have a wonderful week as well!

Thank you! It’s been coming into my mind a lot lately for some reason. Oh, I couldn’t do the mini cooking (I can hardly do the “regular” size cooking,ha!) but I am absolutely fascinated by those videos. Hope you have a wonderful week.

Thank you! The bunnies are a lot of fun to watch. I hope you have a great week and I’m sure you’ll figure out what’s next soon 🙂

LOVE that bunny photo! It’s so cute! I’m surprised your TRU is still open — ours has been closed for a couple months now. I brought the kids for one last visit, too.

Thanks! Well, I hope it’s still open now that you mention it but ours was still pretty full of stuff mid-May so I think it should be there. If not, I guess we’ll visit the building front.
