Happy Homemaker Monday, Goodbye July

I’m sitting here tonight sipping hot green tea as I work on my post.  It’s that chilly out! Weird weather.

Welcome to my Sunday night edition of a Happy Homemaker Monday post. Busy week ahead! July ends this week and the start of school for my boys draws close. Definitely need a plan.

Be sure to visit Sandra, our host, over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom as well as all the other lovely blogs joining in the weekly link-up.

The Weather

Lots of people probably woke up happy this morning to the sound of thunderstorms and then later, simply rain. It’s been comfortable borderline chilly all day. Nice to have the windows open and rest the a/c.  The predicted high for tomorrow is 78!  Just slight chances of rain as the temperatures stair step back up to the low 90’s by next Sunday.

Right Now I Am

Working on this post and realizing none of us ate dinner. We all had late lunches. It’s going to be a fend for yourself evening.

Thinking

Feeling a bit overwhelmed about the upcoming week. I need to stop thinking of it as a big chunk and just take it day by day.

On My Reading Pile

Took my books back to the library except the one I renewed. Good! Checked out a new pile. Great! Haven’t looked at a single new book. Not so great! I’m taking my time with the Little Book of Hygge by Meik Wikig, the book I renewed.

Titles in the pile of library books I haven’t started: Your Own True Colors by Barbara Bush, Carpe Diem, Seizing The Day In A Distracted World by Roman Krznaric, Happiness In This Life by Pope Francis, and All The Little Lights by Jamie McGuire.

On My TV

Amazon Prime added Chuck! So I’ve started re-watching it. Just 3 episodes into it.

My husband and I watched the movie, Deepwater Horizon last night. It’s not the type of movie you want to say you enjoyed as it’s about the worst oil spill disaster in U.S. history but I did think it was a good movie.

In The Craft Basket

Um. Maybe if I had a basket I’d do better?

Looking Forward To

At the moment we’re once again battling sugar ants so I’m simply looking forward to putting everything back in the pantry! (We’d been seeing a few but not in anything. Well, someone yesterday thought it a good idea to clean my cinnamon off the shelves. Today: Full on ant attack! We had to pull out the heavy artillery and throw pretty much all the cereal away.)

Looking Around The House

The pantry goods cover the kitchen table, the couch is mostly clear at least. Bathrooms need cleaned.

From The Camera

Feel like I saved the best for last in this post. Saturday I went and visited Rebecca from Rebecca’s Hearth and Home at Prairie State Park in southern Missouri. She gave me a celebrity worthy tour of her beautiful park. a few preview photos, post coming soon. I love how the photo of the buffalo below almost has a painting effect

Oh, Jean! I love reading your posts! You ALWAYS make me smile! That crack about maybe doing better if you had a basket cracked me UP! 😀 We finally got some rain yesterday and, as I type this, the sun is shining and it’s raining like crazy! Go figure! So glad you made it down Saturday. It was an honor and a privilege to give you a celebrity worthy tour. LOL! (Another smile-making saying!) 😀 Love the photos…especially the one of the bison! Very nice! Am looking forward to your upcoming post! 🙂 I hear you about being overwhelmed. I’m in the same boat. One day at a time…one hour at a time if need be. We’ll make it! Have a blessed week, my friend! Blessings! <3

Thank you! Need to work on that post (along with a few others). Hope your week is going well. Just told my oldest son that tomorrow we’ll be halfway through it.

Thank you! I am a bit busy but mostly just with working all day and then coming home too tired to get things done. Hoping to get a bit of a break to breathe before school starts and busy goes to a new level. Vinegar’s a good idea. My cinnamon usually works well. We’re in the process of putting our cereals in air tight containers.

It was a lot of fun! Our heat’s creeping back. Trying to tough it out for one more night without the a/c but I have a feeling tomorrow we’ll break.

Glad you’re having cooler weather – I can live vicariously through you! Personally, I can’t wait until we head north in 6 weeks. Glad the ants didn’t get into anything at least. I use an eye dropper and put peppermint oil along the back edges of each pantry shelf. I also do a spray of peppermint oil and fractionated coconut oil that I use to spray door thresholds and windows both inside and out and have not seen ants since. LOL I had never thought about the craft “basket” category like that, but you are so right. LOL my crafts fill my WHOLE studio or at the very least a tote at a time 😀 Have a WONDERFUL week.

You could’ve have lived vicariously through me until this afternoon. We’re back in the 90’s and the a/c is running again. We’ll see what happens next week. It was a nice respite. The weather’s been really out of order this year…I don’t mind the hot but it came too soon this year. I’ll have to start doing that along the baseboards with fall coming we’ll have lots of creepy crawlies looking to camp with us. Hope you’re having a wonderful Wednesday!
