Happy Homemaker Monday, Back To School Time

School starts this week for both the boys and me.  Yes, yet another full-time working week for me.

They asked me to help at my school with the first week and honestly, I’m kind of excited about it.  Also, sad to miss the last few days of summer break with my boys but they won’t mind. I did stipulate I’d only work a half-day on Wednesday as school starts for my boys on Thursday. Need a little time with them or to run last-minute errands!

Don’t forget to check out all the fun with the Happy Homemaker Monday link up hosted by Sandra over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom!

On to the categories…

The Weather

It’s August. It’s hot. Low 90’s to mid 80’s all week. It might rain on Tuesday and Wednesday. Might even rain while the sky is clear and the sun is shining. It did that earlier this week. I tried (without much luck) to capture a photo:

Right Now I Am

Sitting here with too many tabs open on the computer, working on this post, thinking of a million little things I need to do.

Thinking

See above. Thinking of all the little things I need to do. Also, I’ve been thinking of my mom a bit. G passed his driver’s test on Friday and it was so hard watching him drive off to a friend’s house that night. He sent me a text once he arrived safely. Today, though, he forgot to send me an “I’ve arrived” message. Back in the age of the dinosaurs, we didn’t have cell phones. Our parents had to just trust we made it to our locations. I have a bit of new respect for that living it from this side of things.

On My Reading Pile

Working my way through Carpe Diem: Seizing The Day In A Distracted World by Roman Alexander Krznaric.  Seems too much to say I keep getting distracted while reading it.

On My TV

Missed the season finale of Reverie so I need to figure out how to watch that one. Started watching the final season of The Americans on Amazon Prime. Limiting myself to one episode a day.

Also, watching Parks and Recreation since I never finished it the first time. Not sure why because I laugh so much through each episode.

And we watched the new Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle movie last night. If you’re in the mood for the original movie, watch it. This is not even close to that. Think more like The Breakfast Club plays Jumanji to paraphrase my husband. However, the middle of the movie where they’re in the game is fun and funny.

On The Menu This Week

As much as I love summer and as much as I’m not ready for school to start, I am ready for regular dinners with a bit more structured meal plans. Of course, good luck with that this week!

MONDAY: Ribs in the Crock Pot (MUST thaw these tonight), corn on the cob, potatoes, salad *I work 8:30-5* (Expecting help with this meal)

TUESDAY: French Toast, Sausage or Bacon (Requested meal) *I work 8:30-5*

WEDNESDAY:  Maybe ham steaks, potatoes, salad or chicken legs *I work 8:30-1*

THURSDAY: Taco salads or maybe OUT *I work 8:30-5* *First day of school* *G has band practice 6-8:30*

FRIDAY: OUT or taco salads *I work 8:30-5*

On My To Do List

  1. Make sure the boys have a few school supplies. I said a silent thank you as I walked by the chaos in Target this afternoon. No stress over school supply list in 8th & 12th grades.
  2. Work on 30 Days of Summer blog series
  3. Pay electric bill (No more stalling…SIGH)
  4. A bit of anniversary planning
  5. Read

In The Craft Basket

I did start on a new butterfly garden area in the yard. Not much there yet.

And added an actual hanging basket of lavender to the garden area by the front porch.

Looking Forward To

The marching band parent preview weekend where we get to see the beginning of their half-time/band competition performance. And pay all the fees (not so much looking forward to that part, ha!).

Looking Around The House

Maybe I should say I’m looking forward to having the time to give it a good cleaning? No idea when that is going to be.

From The Camera

The second tomato from our garden is almost ready!

Quote For The Week

This seems like a good one for back to school time:

Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:34)

Is it back to school time in your area? What’s on your agenda for the week ahead?

LOVE your inspiration and all the fun pictures. Sorry I’m so late getting by from last week, internet issues are the worst. For some reason I am having mega difficulties in bringing up your blog in particular.! Hope you had a GREAT week and have an even better one this week. Happy back to school – I always loved school and couldn’t wait for summer to end and knew FALL was right around the corner.

Thank you! Internet issues are the worst. Are you trying to bring my blog up on a mobile device by any chance? I had some trouble having it come up on my cell phone over the weekend (not my desktop though) and wonder if the mobile version isn’t working right. Maybe I need to do an update. My oldest son is a senior in high school this year so I have a lot of mixed feelings about back to school time. Hope you have a wonderful week!

Thank you! Still lots to do but at least I made a start on it. I do love The Americans, sad to see it end but I guess the 80’s can only go on for so long. Hope you have a great week as well!

Sounds like a busy week for you, Jean. It’s the same here. In fact, right now I’m trying to catch up on posts between library programs. Your menus look good and great start on the butterfly garden! We’ve not had many tomatoes yet either and they’re only ripening one or two tiny tomatoes at a time. It’s just not a good year for them. Hope you’re having a great week! TTY soon! <3

Let’s hope next week’s pace is not quite as hectic. I’m used to our tomatoes not being ready until about late September. Hope you got some of our rain made it down to your area yesterday and today! We’re halfway through the week now. Have a great night!
