Happy Homemaker Monday, Happy October

Wait, it’s October? When did that happen?  Three months left in 2018? Just THREE? Wow.  Note to self: Slow down and be more intentional about enjoying these last three months.

The boys and I enjoyed a three-day weekend as we waved goodbye to September. Friday, no school meant sleeping in a little (lot) later and I may or may not have binge-watched a few too many Walking Dead episodes on Netflix.

Also, took two trips to the local music store for marching things for the 8th grader. They gave us the wrong thing the first time. Big emergency as he needed it today.  Did he take it to school today? No, no he did not. SIGH, teenage angst might be the end of me.

Saturday, we made our way to yet another band competition.  The band did great once again placing 3rd in their division in the preliminary contest and winning an award for outstanding visual! After the judges placed them in 7th place (out of all the 12 bands placing), they played their hearts out to win 4th place in the competition!

Sunday, we had mostly a lazy day. Did I mention the competition’s location about a solid 2 hours southwest of us? It ended a little after 10 PM so we arrived home around 1 AM, yawn! I did go to the grocery store so I wouldn’t have to deal with it today but that’s pretty much all I did yesterday.

Time to join in with Sandra over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom and plan the (busy for us) week ahead!

The Weather In My Neck Of The Woods

Check out the sunrise we had this morning! Ran out in my pajamas to grab this photo. Summer’s trying to take a small encore this week with highs in the upper 80’s to start the first half of the week. Cools down a bit for the end and weekend, where there’s a slight chance of rain.

On The Breakfast Plate

Trying for a low/no sugar and low/no dairy week so… in addition to lots of coffee (with almond milk), I had a scrambled egg with bacon bits and 2 slices of honey wheat toast (with a little butter because dry toast is yucky).

On Today’s To-Do List

Too much!

  1. Write a post for the 31 Days series starting today (yes, I’m already behind)
  2. Make beer bread for dinner
  3. A Target trip
  4. Work on another shelf in linen closet
  5. Clean entire house (probably before I do a shelf)
  6. Little bit of laundry
  7. Clean out car
  8. Clean out purse
  9. Look at FAFA (financial aid page for my senior, not even sure I have the initials right)
  10. Make list of everything we need for Saturday (family wedding)

On The TV This Week

Probably just The Voice and Manifest.  I have a Netflix disc movie, Ender’s Game to watch this afternoon but my plan is to stay away from the evil streaming shows this week. (Finished Walking Dead yesterday) Too much to do!

On The Menu This Week

My sister-in-law’s wedding is Saturday and we’ll have out-of-town family in town starting on Tuesday so my whole menu plan is subject to change but at least I have one.

MONDAY: Steak bites, baked potatoes, beer bread, and salad *G is going to a fundraiser at a local pizza place*

TUESDAY: chicken strips and french fries *Early morning band practice for G*

WEDNESDAY: Frozen pizza (maybe something else for G) *Early morning band practice for G* *GNO for sister-in-law getting married*

THURSDAY: Beef and broccoli, might see if I can find a slow cooker recipe for it *I have a tentative coffee date in am* *Evening band practice for G*

FRIDAY: OUT! It’s senior night for the band at the football game, cue more tears from this mom!

If I Have A Few Minutes To Myself, I Will

probably just watch a movie, maybe take a nap.

What I’m Sewing, Knitting, or Creating

Hopefully, a new 31 Days series. Look for a post later this afternoon about my topic.

New Recipe I Tried Or Want To Try Soon

Beer bread is a new recipe though I’ve made some version of it in the past.

A group of migrating monarchs took shelter in our backyard last week! One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in my life. I did a post on it if you want to see more pictures

Quote For The Week

Diane’s post over at An Extraordinary Day really spoke to me as I read it on my phone last night. Somehow, she always seems to post just exactly what I need to hear. She shared this verse:

Don’t worry over anything whatever; tell God every detail of your needs in earnest and thankful prayer, and the peace of God which transcends human understanding, will keep constant guard over your hearts and minds as they rest in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Really though...go read her post! Amazing and comforting.

What’s on your calendar for the first week of October?

They were truly something to see, I was so lucky my youngest son spotted them. Needed a 4-day weekend, LOL! Hope you have a great week as well!

master class… hmmmm i fear I need organizing for dummies or a remedial summer school class on it!!!
I’ll just drop over to watch a movie with you shall I? lol
It’s cloudy here, and despite laundry mountain to climb, and a poodle who requires much play, I want to just sit and watch a movie too. I saw on ACORN there is a movie based on a Maeve Binchy book, and I love her.
Happy week to you, and I’m going to look at your link

Ha, I never read her first book and this book said not to read it unless you’d read the other one. See how well I follow directions? The couch is cleared off (for now) so come on over! Hope your Monday is going well so far.

    I know – I can’t believe it’s October already too Jean! 😉

How awesome about the band continuing to do well – although that was a LONG night. Lol And your pics of the sunset and butterflies are perfection! That is the coolest thing with those butterflies.

I’ve started to catch up on Manifest as I hadn’t watched that one yet. I really like it so far. Hope you have a blessed rest of the week. xo

Hoping time slows down a bit for the end of the year. I was super excited about the butterflies. My husband kept making fun of Manifest saying it was a Lost reboot. I said they should’ve called it Found 😉 I really do like the show and think Monday night might be my fall TV night. Hope your week has been great so far!
