Happy Homemaker Monday, The Dinner Time Edition

Late today as I unexpectedly went into work for a full day. It’s certainly been a bit of a Monday around here as well. Weather making us all crabby, G waking up not feeling well, me dropping my car key in the crack between the back door and porch. Oh, and it poured rain all day.

Better get a start, even if it’s a late one, on planning the week ahead with Sandra over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom.

The Weather

Blah! At least it stayed above freezing today. However, really I’d prefer snow to an all day rain.  The rain’s turned the ground into a bizarre slush (we had ice/snow last week). I do see some 48 and 50 degree days predicted this week, hope the sun shows itself as well. Need some outside time. We all do.

Right Now I Am

Waiting for the oven to preheat so I can throw the (box) lasagna in it. Working on this post. Stopping to let the little gray cat outside (hoping I remember to let her back inside). Trying to decide if it’s worth it to take off my wet shoes and socks (I need to run out again later).

Thinking

It’s taking pretty much all the thought-power I have left today for this post.

On My Reading Pile

Finished Dark Winter by Anthony J Tata and Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng last week and into the weekend.  Not sure what I’ll pick up for this week.

On My TV

Last week we watched Deadpool 2 and I really enjoyed it. On Netflix, I started (why?) watching The Ted Bundy documentary…creepy. Then, we (not the kids) watched Silence of the Lambs. And by myself I watched both Terminator and Terminator Genisys.  Really, I’m just waiting for Seal Team and God Friended Me to air again. I miss my regular shows.

On My Menu

This is not the week to invite yourself to dinner at our house. I have no idea what we’re having. Trying to live out of the freezer/pantry and use what we have. Let’s see…

MONDAY: Box lasagna, salad, bread sticks from hot dog buns *I worked 9-3:45*

TUESDAY: Fish, baked potatoes

WEDNESDAY:  Country Ribs in Crock pot (yes, same ones that have been on this list forever) *I have an am hair appt*

THURSDAY:  Steak bites  *I work 9-1* *J’s baritone lesson*

FRIDAY:  Leftovers *I work 11-3:45* *G has pep band*

On My To Do List

  1. Go to grocery store for produce/lunch stuff
  2. Buy toilet paper
  3. Mail electric bill  (this is new, our utility now charges an insane fee for on-line payments)
  4. Valentine’s Day stuff, mail a few cards
  5. Clean out fridge/pantry/cabinets
  6. Get back on track with the clutter clearing
  7. Come up with a “get healthy” plan, maybe start with a sugar-free challenge
  8. Write and schedule a few blog posts

Creating

Nothing but I should add a #9 to my list, find fun project for winter.

Looking Around The House

Not awful because we had a few rooms (the main three) clean for my husband’s birthday. Bedrooms need lots of attention. And there are muddy footprints and paw prints across the hard wood floors and on the living room table (just paw prints there).

From The Camera

Didn’t take too many photos last week. I was super excited about my husband’s birthday cake coming out of the pan easily!

On My Prayer List

Funeral procession I passed last week, coworkers, family, friends.

Quote For The Week

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (Proverbs 4:23)

Did your Monday start off well? What’s on your agenda for the week ahead?

Sounds like you had a full and busy Monday, Jean. I hope your Tuesday is off to a great start and that you are able to get outside for a bit today and enjoy it.

Here the temps are warmer, but it’s very windy, and, between last week’s ice melt-off and yesterday’s all day rain, we are sinking in MUD! I so prefer a frozen ground over a muddy ground! Oh, well! Maybe the wind will dry it out today!

Oooo! Dropping your key in the crack between the back door and the porch? Don’t you love it when things like that happen? You know you couldn’t do it if your purposely trying to! Arghh!

The cake looks great and Happy Birthday to your dh! Happy Valentine’s Day to you both!

Have a great rest of the week and enjoy the warmer temps! Blessings, my friend! <3

Managed to get my dinner started in the crock pot so off to a pretty good start over here 🙂 We’re supposed to see sun around noon. Can’t wait! Yes, I’d prefer frozen ground over mud as well. We have a bit of all of it up here. Mud, ice, snow, dry. Thankfully, my husband came home and was able to remove the deck board and retrieve my key! Whew. Happy Valentine’s Day to you as well!

well if this isn’t the week to come to dinner… what if I stop by to see the little gray cat? lol
I love that you pray for those affected by the funeral… when I see an ambulance I send up a little prayer of support.
go ahead and change your wet socks.

It would be a great week to visit the cat. She’s being a bit needy. Felt the need to wake me up at 2 AM last night to tell me she needed a bit more love. I did change my socks and decided to just stay home last night 😉

Whoa, I’m out of breath just reading your post! Kind of reminds me of how my week was last week. I finished up the Ted Bundy doc and it was seriously crazy! Here’s wishing you a calm rest of the week!

I still need to finish the documentary. Can’t quite watch stuff like that at night so I’ll have to save it for the weekend. Makes me curious about the movie coming out with Zac Efron. Can’t quite picture him playing a bad guy. I guess the movie is supposed to be from the point of view of the girlfriend he lived with for a while. This week shouldn’t be too busy, just a bunch of half-days at work. Hope your week is off to a wonderful start!

    Hi sweet Jean!
I’m so late this week I didn’t get to my HHM until today. 😉

YOur prayer reminds me of when I say a prayer anytime a fire truck or ambulance goes by. I know I’d like someone praying if it were coming for me! Lol

That cake looks yummy. NOw I’m craving something sweet. Hmmmmm Have a blessed week Hon

I’ve had lots of week where my HHM doesn’t happen until Tuesday and sometimes even Wednesday. I’m always craving something sweet it seems. Hope you’re having a great week & have a very happy Valentine’s Day tomorrow!

OOPS I didn’t get to finish my comment before I hit enter. We enjoyed Deadpool 2 also though I do wish they gone a little lighter on the language. When we lived where it snowed and was wet all the time I kept multiple pairs of shoes and socks in the downstairs closet so we could always have fresh when we had to go back out. Have a GREAT week.

That’s a good idea with the socks and shoes. It’s been a while since we had so much snow! More predicted for our weekend as well. Hope your week is going well so far.
