Happy Homemaker Monday, Sunday Evening Edition

Happy to be posting again after missing my weekly planning post last week.  A funeral is not a great way to start any week.

Happy to be returning to somewhat of a routine this week. Well, until spring break begins for the boys on Thursday. They only get Thursday and Friday but it’s better than being in school until June (not the norm here…I know some schools typically go that late but our schools generally release for the summer in late May).

Since tomorrow’s a work day, I’ll be linking up with Sandra over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom in the afternoon. Be sure to go visit and check out all the other wonderful bloggers planning out their weeks.

Beginning with…

The Weather

It’s a little cold and cloudy this evening but spring is definitely in the air! Slight chance of rain tomorrow, thunderstorms on Thursday or Friday (slight chance again) and temps in the 50’s tomorrow and then bumping into the 70’s for Wednesday and Thursday.

On My Reading  Pile

Currently, I’m slowly working through Outer Order, Inner Calm by Gretchen Rubin. Sadly, the rest of my books were so overdue, I just took them back. I’ll start fresh sometime this week or next.

Movies Or Shows I Watched This Weekend

I caught up on the CNN Decades documentaries on Netflix working my way through the 90’s and the early 2000’s. AND, Amazon added the second season of my all-time favorite show to Prime…so I watched 2 episodes of Fringe. Then, because Fringe is a bit scary, I switched over and watched an episode or 2 of Chuck before bed.

On My TV

Right now I’m waiting for God Friended Me to start. I’m also super excited Seal Team is finally back on Wednesday nights!

On The Menu

Already warned the family, it’s a clear-out the fridge and pantry week around here.

We did manage something different (than usual) tonight and I fixed chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes. Chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

MONDAY: Back to boring..pork chops, salad *I work 8-4*

TUESDAY: Tacos *I work 8-4* *G has early morning band practice*

WEDNESDAY:  Hamburgers/Hot dogs, chips

THURSDAY: OUT *J has a baritone lesson* *I’m meeting a friend for coffee in the am*

FRIDAY: Fish, baked sweet potatoes (maybe)

On My To Do List

  1. Pay bills
  2. Grocery store/Target
  3. Clean off top of this desk!!
  4. Shred some papers
  5. Start preparing for upcoming trip
  6. Clean the house
  7. Go through clothes and see what spring/summer clothes we all need
  8. Start planning Easter brunch menu
  9. Library trip for new books (and pay the fines!)
  10. Call to reschedule hair appointment

Creating

Just dreaming of my summer garden areas…still have my little green plants in the window.

Looking Forward To

Planting flowers and having some color in the yard again.

What I’m Wearing Today

For work, I’ll probably wear a blue school tee-shirt and jeans. Sleepy Monday attire.

Spring time!

I always enjoy reading your posts, Jean. Am sorry that last week started off with a funeral. Have been remembering your family in my thoughts and prayers here. Your menus look good. The first time I heard of chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes I thought it sounded really weird, but it’s oh! So yummy! They serve it as a regular menu item here in town at Mary’s. We’re working on garden plans, as well, and I’m so excited to have stuff budding and blooming around the yard. Love your quote by Doris Day. She sure was a sweet lady! Have a great week ahead, my friend, and may many blessings be yours! <3

Thank you! You know I wonder if chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes is a southern thing? I’d never even heard of it before I met my husband! Personally, every time we have it…I’m missing the carrots and the celery and the crackers. Personally, I’d rather have chicken noodle soup hold the mashed potatoes any day. It’s a family favorite on my husband’s side though. I noticed a random crocus popped up and about to bloom in the middle of our yard today 🙂 Hope your Tuesday is going well so far!
