Happy Homemaker Monday, A Short and Exciting Week Ahead

Happy Monday! Do you ever mix up dates?  I did! I thought we left tonight for a trip. Apparently, not so fast. We have to hang around for a couple more days. Good thing as I have lots to do still.

I’ll share more about our trip (Can you tell I’m a little excited?) upon our return. Like to keep my outings a mystery from the paparazzi.

While I anxiously await our departure, I’m home today to plan our short week. Joining in with Sandra over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom for the fun.

The Weather

Spring has sprung! It’s so pretty outside I can hardly bear to be inside. No wonder I’m so bad at spring cleaning. As soon as it warms up, I want to spend all my time outside with singing birds, sitting on the front porch with the little gray cat, and enjoying the warm breezes. Of course, I do hear whispers on the news of a cold front arriving this weekend.

On My Reading Pile

Finished (finally) Outer Order, Inner Calm by Gretchen Rubin. You can read my review over on Goodreads if you’re interested. Not my favorite of her works but still a good reference guide. I also just finished up Flash: The Homeless Donkey Who Taught Me About Life, Faith, And Second Chances by Rachel Anne Ridge.  A great read, spoke to my soul.

Movies or Shows I Watched This Weekend

Watched the series called Hanna (only 1 season so far) on Amazon Prime. Enjoyed it. Apparently, it’s a spin-off of a movie of the same name (not on Amazon Prime, sigh). Other than that, see the weather. And note the problem of having a favorite show on Sunday nights: preempted for everything.

On My TV

See the weather paragraph above. Not much…I’ll be outside! Maybe a rerun of Fringe while I’m doing some necessary inside chores.

On The Menu

Short week for planning the menu here!

MONDAY: Leaning toward spaghetti, meatballs, and garlic bread

TUESDAY: Subway

WEDNESDAY: OUT

THURSDAY: OUT

FRIDAY: OUT

On My To Do List

  1. Finish up the clothes laundry
  2. Wash all the bedding (tomorrow)
  3. Scrub shower
  4. Steam mop floors
  5. Clean whole house
  6. Pay a few bills
  7. Make a couple Quiche for Easter brunch (freezer)
  8. Clear out pantry
  9. Trip to Dollar Store for Easter Brunch plates/napkins/filler
  10. Pack for trip

What I Am Creating

I moved quite a few of these from their random spots in our backyard to a new home yesterday.

Yet another garden area in the backyard! My husband moved some items and where there’s dirt, I see a flower garden!

We’re actually trying to make a fire pit from the inside of a broken washing machine.

My vision for the backyard will take a few years.  That’s okay though. Gives me something to do.

Looking Forward To

Seeing the results of the new construction happening next door. (in the oak tree) Welcome Blue jay family!

See the start of the nest near the bottom left? Still 20 feet up in the tree but in range of the camera zoom lens.

Our trip! Easter Brunch! Hoping they’ll ask me to help with Earth Day at preschool. (They usually do). A wedding shower to attend later this month!

Looking Around The House

Not awful but definitely in need of a good spring cleaning. And someone (ahem…) tracked mud through it yesterday and needs to clean it up.

From The Camera

What I’m Wearing Today

Light blue 2014 KC Royals American League Champions tee-shirt, tan corduroy pants, and tennis shoes. The “throw something on so I can take a kid to school” look.

One Of My Simple Pleasures

Having the windows open and a breeze of fresh air blowing through the house.

Prayer Requests

Safe travels for our family. Hearts to soften in extended family members. Health for a coworker.  Allergy sufferers that they might find some relief to enjoy this beautiful season.  All of you to have healthy, happy weeks.

What are you looking forward to this week?

I love the kitty picture! Makes me miss my Sady (she was a gray sable color like that) and I love the fire pit idea! I hope you have a WONDERFUL trip and can’t wait to hear about it. So glad someone is getting spring weather! It lasted about 3 days around here before we were back to cold, windy wet weather so enjoy it for me please! LOL I went looking for the Hanna movie on Prime too, but wasn’t ready to start a series – glad to know you enjoyed it though so will add it to my list. We watched PRICELESS instead and it was a pretty good message movie about human trafficking. Once again have a GREAT trip.

Thank you. I remember you talking about your Sady looking like our little gray cat. The fire pit idea is one I stole off a random Facebook post I noticed. Not sure exactly how we’re going to do it yet. I have my “pretty” ideas and then, my husband has the practical ideas where it will actually function. As you can see, we’re just using it as it right now. Very much enjoying our weather, hope your rain stops so you can get out and enjoy some sun as well. Hope you have a wonderful week!

Nothing beats fresh air does it? I’m really fortunate to not be bothered by spring allergies. I know there are already a few around here who are struggling as our pollen count is starting to go up.

Hope you have a nice trip.
Steam mop… I’ve been wanting one but don’t know anyone who has it. do you like it?
Bluejays… and a cat….. hummm…. we had 2 blujays who came by last summer and they attacked the cat!!!! I do not like blujays anymore. I ran in with the cat and they kept shouting at us.

    Have a great week

Thank you. Yes, I do like my steam mop. The only things I don’t like about it are (it’s just me) that I like my scented cleaners. I get around that by putting a few drops of essential oils in the water. And sometimes the cleaning pads don’t get as clean (even with bleach) as I’d like them to get. I’ve taken to using disposable ones (they don’t fit my mop perfect but I make due) in places like the bathroom. Oh yes, Blue jays are super protective of their babies and not scared of little cats. I’ve had several conversations with our little cat already about these new neighbors. She knows to watch out for them. At least, I won’t have to worry about her “playing” with the baby Blue jays. Hope you have a great week as well!

birds and breezes. We went from cold to hot, so even opening windows just brings in the heat! What! Where are you going that you are looking so forward to it? Hope it’s great!

We’re lucky to be getting a true spring this year. We’ve had years like that where it just gets HOT over night. Maybe it will cool off a bit for you (but not too much!). I’ll send you a private message if you really want my destination (I’m superstitious and cautious about sharing too much of our travel plans on-line for the world to see). Thanks! Hope you have a wonderful week over there.

Wish it were my original idea, just happened to see it on Facebook and our washer just happened to have quit working about a month ago. Thanks. Hope your Monday was wonderful!

Ooooohhhh! A mystery trip! Sounds EXCITING! I can’t wait to hear more about it! Wherever you’re going I hope you have a wonderful time and make lots of sweet family memories! Love your flower pics! I’m so glad that spring is here! What a great idea for a fire pit!!! Looks like it works just fine and the holes in the tub give it plenty of room to draw oxygen! Nice! Have a great trip, my friend! ‘See you’ when you get back! Blessings! <3

Have a nice trip Jean, I hope all is well with family and no stress for you all. Lovely to see your cat photo, I do love cats and find them fascinating to watch. It’s nice to see all the familiar plants and birds in the garden each year. Take care, Cathy x

Thank you. We had a great trip, arrived home at 4:30 AM this morning so a bit tired (should have gone back to bed but I was too wired to sleep). Yes, I love seeing the new plants come back each year. Hope your week is off to a wonderful start!
