Late Start to the Week, Happy Homemaker, uh, Wednesday

Happy Wednesday! We had a bit of an extended and busy weekend. After finishing up my 2 weeks of a full-time work schedule, J and I were up early on Saturday.

He performed for a judge in the Mid-America Music Association contest. After that, we loaded up the car and headed south to have a quick family weekend before G’s college orientation.

When did my first “baby” get so tall?

While there, J’s instructor sent us news that J made the cut to get a trophy from the contest. (The judge gave him a “superior” rating which meant he scored at least 95% on his pieces. Did I mention he had to play them from memory?).

So on Tuesday, as soon as G finished registering for his classes, we hurried back to town so J could play with his other class-mates in a recital setting and get his trophy. It was a nice event but it didn’t end until almost 10 PM.

WHEW! A busy and whirlwind of a weekend but now it’s time to move forward and see what the rest of this week holds for us. Even though it’s late in the week, I’m still linking my post up with Sandra over at Diary of a Stay At Home Mom where she hosts Happy Homemaker Monday (not Wednesday, oops!).

The Weather

Saturday was a beautiful, sunny day for traveling and exploring a bit of forest.

This morning is a bit rainy and fall-like. Perfect sleeping in weather and yes, I took advantage of that! It’s supposed to be in the upper 70’s and low to mid 80’s the rest of the week with slight chances of rain.

On The Breakfast Plate

After so much running around, I made myself a bit of a bigger breakfast this morning: bacon, biscuits, and a fried egg. Plus coffee, of course.

Right Now I Am

Soaking in being at home with no place I have to be. Enjoying a quiet house and the slightly dark, rainy skies outside my windows.

On My Bedside Table

Same mess as last week except it’s grown to include a couple of plastic bags and 2 tee-shirts.

On My Reading Pile

I started reading Mary Poppins by P.L. Travers on the Kindle app on my phone. Still working through From The Ground Up by Howard Schulz (almost finished).

Movies Or Shows I Watched This Weekend

Friday evening, I watched Saving Mr. Banks on Netflix. I enjoyed it and yes, it inspired me to read Mary Poppins. However, why Netflix listed it as a comedy, I have no idea. It is not a comedy!  We also watched  Tommy Boy in the hotel room one evening. A true comedy and one of my favorite movies.

On My TV This Week

I have no planned viewing. Whatever interests me.

On The Menu This Week

Wish we were a little closer to this place! One of my favorite road-trip stops.

Not sure why just planning 3 meals feels harder than an entire week. Probably because I desperately need to go to the store again.

MONDAY: We ate at the college orientation dinner (except J who had Subway) *Out of Town*

TUESDAY: We ate a late lunch at a Mexican restaurant and a later dinner at McDonald’s *Out of Town*

WEDNESDAY: It feels a bit like a spaghetti day

THURSDAY: Chicken legs, French Fries, Salad *J has band camp 8-4*

FRIDAY: Maybe frozen pizza? *J has band camp 8-4*

On My To Do List

  1. Clean out fridge and go grocery shopping
  2. Laundry!
  3. Clean the house
  4. Books back to library
  5. Unfinished items from last week (sweaters in space bags, clean off desk, etc)

Looking Forward To

Being off work this rest of this week and next. Spending some time at home and with G getting him ready for college

From The Camera

My husband and J checking out the fish in the aquarium at the Wonders of Wildlife Museum in Springfield

What I’m Wearing Today

Black high school band show shirt, green Capri pants, and pink slide sandals.

One Of My Simple Pleasures

Being in my own house (sleeping in my own bed, using my own bathroom, etc) after being out-of-town.

Glad you had an extended weekend and some great family time. Congratulations to your son on his trophy – so awesome! I love your pictures this week. I need to go to the store also and am having the same qualms over next weeks menu. Hope the rest of your week was great!

Thank you! The family time was much needed. I think I actually have the menu for this week somewhat figured out this morning. Hope you had a great weekend!
