Happy Homemaker Monday

It’s actually Sunday but I’m trying to get a jump on things this week. Never know when my phone is going to ring with a request to work. Hoping it doesn’t ring tomorrow as I’m feeling a bit under the weather this morning but I do plan to be ready if it does.

Linking up as always with Sandra over at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom, the host of the Happy Homemaker Mondays.

The Weather Outside

Normal?! It’s a bit of a gray, overcast day with a few rain drops falling now and then. Supposed to have highs in the 50’s most the week but I do see some 60’s on the map toward the end.

On The Breakfast Plate

Cinnamon apple oatmeal and coffee (actually bought a small bag of Starbucks Peppermint Mocha so it’s mixed in with the regular Folgers).

As I Look Outside My Window

Can’t see outside the basement windows. Earlier this morning, I saw the gray cloudy sky and a possum up past his bedtime sitting under the bird feeders.

Right Now I Am

Working on this post while washing our bedding (the washing machine is whirring in the background). I also hear footsteps upstairs telling me someone else just woke up for the day.

As I Look Around The House

I cleaned a bit yesterday so it could look worse. Probably do a bit more cleaning today.

On My To-Do List

  1. Still need to pay bills
  2. Finish up the laundry
  3. Wash all the bedding (guess that should go with laundry)
  4. Clean the house a bit more
  5. Whatever I’m forgetting

I’ve been struggling with this a bit lately.

MONDAY: Some sort of chicken and salad *J has a baritone lesson at 6:30*

TUESDAY: Roast in the crock pot *I have Bunco*

WEDNESDAY: Maybe breakfast for dinner…pancakes, bacon, orange juice

THURSDAY: Pork chops (already cooked, from freezer), baked sweet potatoes *I work 12-4:45*

FRIDAY: Pizza of some sort *I work 7:45-4:45*

Currently Reading

Finished two books this weekend: Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Serial Crime Unit by John E. Douglas and Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. I reviewed both over on Good Reads but much preferred the John E. Douglas book. Had Sharp Objects been the first book I ever read by Flynn, I doubt I’d have read any more of her work.

On The TV

Just a little bit of everything. Found some re-runs of The Middle, so enjoyed that. Watched a dumb Netflix movie called Fractured. And have been watching the Netflix series The Toys That Made Us while doing the laundry.

Some day I’ll have something exciting to share here. Today is not that day.

New Recipe I Tried Or Want To Try

I’ve been itching to try this ever since reading a short description in a book: Tortilla de Patatas

Perhaps dinner tonight? We shall see…

From The Camera

Grabbed the camera and took a much-needed walk through the park yesterday morning. It’s the one I drive through on my way to work. Nice to get a slower perspective and have time to walk down to the lake I only see glimpses of when driving.

Quote For The Week

And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul. (John Muir)

What’s on your agenda for the week ahead?

Thank you! It was pretty peaceful on Saturday morning. Just on the other side of the path is the road and you can hear the cars going by, just not as many early on a Saturday.

It had been a while since I had oatmeal for breakfast, made a nice change. Had it again this morning. That was Waterfall Park over by the Bass Pro Shop. It’s busy but a nice play to walk and it has a nice playground for the kids as well. Hope you have a great week as well!

I haven’t been to that one. Will have to check it out sometime when I’m up that way. Sounds like a great park!

I like the lake pictures – glad you were able to take some time for the slower perspective. I also LOVE breakfast for dinner – also gives you another perspective! Thanks for the heads up on SHARP OBJECTS – I have so many books in que already that I’ll leave that one until last. I hope you didn’t get the call this morning and are resting instead. Have a GREAT week.

Thank you. It was a MUCH needed time to take it a bit slower. I didn’t care for Sharp Objects at all, too out there and disturbing, which is saying something since I read it after reading a non-fiction book about serial crime. In fairness, I noticed I had a few friends and other reviewers who really liked it. So far, I am getting to enjoy a Monday at home. Cleaning and laundry! I like the resting idea better. Hope you have a great week as well.

Thank you! It was certainly surprising to see a possum in the morning light. Hope you’ve had a great week so far.

Still need to make my roast, keep forgetting to thaw it. Maybe tomorrow. Thanks! Hope your week is off to a great start!

It always starts out that way but then….work on Tuesday, work this morning, extended hours tomorrow…weekly plan, not the same. We always manage though. Hope your week is going great so far!

Yes, I think menu planning like everything else comes in waves. It helps me to just make a plan but we usually don’t follow it exactly as our schedules seem to be always changing.
