Happy Homemaker Monday, Welcome December!

I missed posting last week! Not for lack of trying. I started a post last Sunday morning, tried finishing it on Monday night, Tuesday, and by Wednesday….well, Thanksgiving!

This morning I’m back!

And already feeling a bit accomplished as I just added a plugin to get rid of the new Word-press editor and go back to the classic way. I’d be really accomplished if I’d learned the new system. However, I’m just not ready.

Time to plan the week ahead. Last week was busy, holiday included. The weekend was relaxing though. I’m hoping for a slightly less busy week this time but it’s December so….

let’s just join in with Sandra over at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom to see how this week looks:

The Weather

Cold this morning! Didn’t order this. It’s okay, correction on the way. 40’s later today and then, into the 50’s for the rest of the week. And sunshine!

On The Breakfast Plate This Morning

Lots of coffee! And a bowl of instant oatmeal (apple cinnamon kind)

As I Look Outside My Window

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…some neighbors have lights on their houses.

Right Now I Am

Enjoying the quiet while I work on this post, hoping I do not get called into work, and thinking of the hundreds (probably not that much) of things I need to do today.

As I Look Around The House

Not bad if we avoid the teenager’s room and the bathroom. And the kitchen table. And the couch covered with stuff. Christmas is up though! Tree in the living room, greenery on the doorway to the kitchen, Nativity out. So it makes the mess pretty.

On Today’s To Do List

  1. Go to library, told G I’d pick up a book for him
  2. Grocery store maybe
  3. Clean the house
  4. Cyber Monday maybe
  5. Work on blog

On This Week’s To Do List

  1. Must go to grocery store
  2. Clean out fridge/freezer of Thanksgiving stuff (should do today)
  3. Wrap some Christmas presents
  4. Do some clearing out in teenager’s room
  5. Clean out some kitchen cabinets

On The Menu This Week

Tortilla de Patatas, G and I made this for lunch one day last week.

After a discussion last week (on the way to a restaurant after a visitation, family friend passed away), J mentioned how Americans don’t do as much home-cooking as their European counterparts. I may have made a reply about their kids not complaining as much. However, it made me think I should be a bit better about cooking at home…so I’m trying to be a bit more intentional in my menu. Bad time of year to decide this…however, why make things easy?

MONDAY: *not a home cooking kind of day* Fish and Baked potatoes *J has a baritone lesson at 6:30*

TUESDAY: Sweet and Sour pork, rice *I work 1:00-3:45*

WEDNESDAY: *not a home cooking kind of day* Maybe Subway? *J has a band concert*

THURSDAY: Fried round steak, mashed potatoes, salad

FRIDAY: OUT *This day is up in the air due to band stuff over the weekend that I don’t have the details for yet*

On The TV This Week

I took advantage of the Black Friday special and got us a year of Hulu. So I’m re-watching LOST. Such a great show. Not very Christmas-y, huh? We did watch Frosty The Snowman the night it aired. And I need to watch the latest episode of Mr. Robot still.

What I Am Creating At The Moment

A house decorated for the holidays. Not much else.

From The Camera

I’m having some issues uploading photos to my blog and didn’t pick up the camera much this week/weekend. All the photos in the post are from last week.

From Winterfest at Worlds Of Fun, not a neighbor’s yard!

I hear you, Jean! The days just keep flying by in a blur. I’ve not gotten to do anything justice lately…especially my blog. I was hoping to get in on Blogmas 2019, but, alas, it is NOT happening! Maybe next year! I’m sorry for the loss of your friend and the tortilla de patatas looks lovely. I’m wishing you a great week ahead and…just a reminder…Christmas on the Farm is this Saturday at Watkins Mill. If you can make it, look me up. I should be in the diningroom. Blessings for a great week!

Thank you. I’m working ahead on Blogmas a bit. I think you could probably join in the fun any time you wanted 😉 Some day I’m going to get to the Christmas on the Farm. Unfortunately, not this year as J has a band thing on Saturday (at some time…so few details about it all, can’t plan anything else). Hope you have a great week!

I cannot imagine being ready to wrap presents yet! You certain do sound organized. I would like to get some cards off in the mail . Sounds like you’re. Knocking off all the items on your Christmas to do list. I’ll keep checking back hoping for some motivation to get mine done
    ! God bless!

The only reason I have presents to wrap is because one of my list items for 2019 was to buy 2 Christmas gifts each month for the boys. It’s one of the very few items on the list I (mostly) managed to do. BUT I didn’t do buy any stocking fillers at all. And I had this wild idea in January to do my Christmas cards so they’d be ready to go. It sounded like a great idea at the time but really now I’m sitting here with sealed cards and school pictures (from my freshman) that I’d have put in them. And sadly, I had to open one card and throw away the envelope as the recipient passed away suddenly this year. I think it’s always a matter of doing one thing while letting other things slide and hoping we pick the right things. Not sure about these people who manage to do it all 😉 Hope your Tuesday is off to a terrific start!

Well, I’ve only got presents to wrap for my boys. I’m way behind in buying gifts for the rest (not too many these days). I do think sending Christmas cards is becoming a lost tradition and I get it but there’s something about sending a card to let someone know you’re thinking of them. Of course, I just sign my name to them. Hope your week is off to a great start!

I only lasted 2 days on the new Word Press editor and switched back quite some time ago – isn’t it funny how we sometimes hate technology? NEW & IMPROVED isn’t always improved in my book. Cute pictures – I hope you get your camera issues sort out with uploading. We’re going to put the tree up later this week, but my shopping is done and presents are wrapped too. I hope you have a WONDERFUL week.

I couldn’t make sense of why a title wasn’t showing in my post and then the typing wasn’t starting at the top. Couldn’t handle that! Thanks! The camera issues are probably from lack of updating, I’m supposed to be updating something technical on the hosting site but haven’t been quite brave and focused enough to tackle it yet. Still have a bit of shopping to do but not as much as usual. Hope you are having a great week so far!

I haven’t even started my Christmas shopping yet, nor have my Christmas decor up. Maybe this weekend it will go up. Have a great week!

You have 21 days still. It’s the first time in a long time we’ve been home on Thanksgiving weekend so I was excited to put it all up a bit earlier than normal this year. Hope you are having a great week so far!

I’m trying to wrap 2 presents each day, kind of like a fun countdown activity. Of course, I still have a bit of shopping left as well. I did enjoy the book. Hope you have a wonderful week as well!
