Happy Homemaker Monday, A Week With Work

Been a while since I typed any title with the word “work” in it. Happy and grateful to do so this week. Today still finds me at home so let’s just jump right on into the weekly planning post.

Don’t forget to hop over and visit Sandra, the host of Happy Homemaker Mondays, over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom. And a few of the other fabulous bloggers as well.

The Weather

Out the front door this morning

Hot, then rain, then hot and humid. Typical summer though a bit early for the super hot and humid parts. No complaints from me as I love the hot and humid sunshiny weather. Except I need to mow the lawn, not too excited to do that in the hot, humid stuff. My son might get a turn with it.

How I’m Feeling This Morning

Hopeful. Slightly energetic (might just be the coffee). Happy and excited for the week ahead. I feel like it’s going to be a good week.

On My Mind

A bit of fear I’ll forget to go to work at the appointed time this week as it’s been a long time. A little anxiety about the unknowns. Things I’d like to accomplish this week. I’m not exactly planning to the ignore the state of the world this week but I do plan to focus more on the people and space (home) right around me. And just keep sending my love out into the world throughout the week. I found it really helped my mood last week.

On My To Do List

  1. Clean out fridge/freezer/cut up fruit
  2. Mail 2 cards, possibly 3
  3. Mow the lawn
  4. Clean the house
  5. Get a few more flowers

On My Breakfast Plate

So far only coffee. I’m not sure if I’ll eat a yogurt or not. Another upset stomach night on Saturday and the only yogurt flavor left (aside from Cookies and Cream) is just not calling me right now. Odd as I usually love all things coconut. And I’m pretty sure the upset stomach came from our dinner out (My husband mentioned the a/c seemed to be out in the restaurant where he picked up our dinner).

On My Reading Pile

I read a pretty “lite” one last week titled Aunt Daisy’s Letter by S.J. Crabb. Silly, predictable romance. Always wonder about the grammar errors on the Kindle books, author or typist? I wanted my red pen at times. Of course, the book charmed me enough to pick up the sequel and now I’m reading The Wedding at the Castle of Dreams by the same author.

TV Viewing

A bit of tiff with my husband last night about Press Your Luck being the best game show of all time. (Super nostalgic from my childhood. How can you not love shouting “No whammies!”?). Can you believe he didn’t want to watch it? I watched it by myself on another TV. Other than that, no judgement please, I started watching Fear The Walking Dead. It’s quite interesting. And the last few episodes (still need to watch the season finale) of D.C. Legends of Tomorrow.

Mostly, my TV viewing habits consist of playing Animal Crossing and setting up my little island of Jeansland.

On The Menu This Week

MONDAY: Turkey bacon clubs, sweet potato fries *J has a baritone lesson at 6:30*

TUESDAY: Taco potatoes

WEDNESDAY: Teriyaki chicken and oriental salad (from a bag) *I work 1-5*

THURSDAY: Fish, cornbread, salad

FRIDAY: Hamburgers and hot dogs on grill? *I work 3-5*

From The Camera

The little purple flowers that invade the backyard arrived this week! Mostly they’re in the neighbor’s weed infested backyard (not complaining as their “nature preserve” brings me my beloved birds by providing lots of habitat). A few flowers always show up around our yard as well.

And in our garden, earliest appearance ever, a tiny green tomato!

Looking Around The House

It needs a little love. And lots of cleaning!

Chore I’m Not Looking Forward To Today Or This Week

I started a linen closet clean-out and re-organization last week. And now, I need to finish it. My grand idea to put our blankets in space bags worked well except they don’t fit back on the shelves. What’s the old cliche: Measure twice, cut once? I always forget the measuring part. Just know super large space saver bags are super large even after all the air’s removed.

To Relax This Week I Will

Spend some time outside, maybe go pick up some new flowers for the newly washed front porch:

Husband power washed it yesterday! Looks so much better.

On My Prayer List

Family, friends, strangers. All those struggling right now. That love finds a way into some of the hardened hearts out there.

Quote For The Week

“Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer. And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good.” (Maya Angelou)

What’s on your agenda for the week ahead?

Oh you reminded me I need to do our linen closet and get rid of about a third of the stuff. Time to Really cut back on stuff! I have been having some stomache issues, could be because my allergies are so out of control, but the state of the nation is so broken, it could be stress. But I’ve awakened twice in the last several weeks sick and really uneasy that lasts all night. Not normal for me! Bleh. Blessings for you! Hope you do not have to mow in this heat and humidity!

Hope you start to feel better and sleep better as well. Less stress and more sleep could benefit us all. The rain seems to have missed us this morning and it’s not too bad out there yet. Still, not too excited about mowing today. Happy Tuesday!

I love your thoughts on keeping an eye on what is happening out in the world, but focusing on loving the ones closest to us. Thinking about it all is so overwhelming. I try to do my part here in my home. Hope your stomach feels better. And I hope you have a cozy evening. Wondering if your bagged salad is the DOle chopped one we like. Soooo good!

Thank you. Stomach is feeling much better. Yes, it is the Dole one except our grocery store also does a great imitation of it so whichever is on sale, that’s what I buy. Happy Tuesday!

I too agree with what you are saying on keeping an eye on what is happening out in the world, but focusing on the people and space around us. Love those blue bell flowers. Turkey bacon clubs, yum! that is a winner. Have a great week

I think it’s the best thing we can do lately. Lots of those flowers around here. Hope your Tuesday is off to a wonderful start!

HA HA I do LOVE shouting “NO WHAMMIES”, but the show itself annoyed me most the time LOL. I planted 4 separate tomato plants and they all look good, but my cherry tomato is first AND prolific this year. We built all new garden boxes and used all new soil this year. The tomatoes AND the squash are loving it! I LOVE those little purple flowers! I hope going back to work went smoothly and all is well with your week. Enjoy the rest of it.

Glad your tomatoes are doing so well. The little purple flowers are pretty though I’m pretty sure they might be considered invasive in some areas. Had a great day at work. Hope you have a wonderful rest of your week!
