Summer official begins this afternoon. Well, for those of us in the Northern hemisphere.
It’s my favorite season and I’m happy to see it arrive. The only thing is the bird watching tends to get a little slim in the summer months. Hopefully, I can still capture enough of a variety of bird photos to keep these bird-watching posts interesting.
That said, I’m starting with a photo of a bird I shared last week. Hope you don’t mind. Mr. Flamingo wanted you all to see his new summer look. Happy Summer from Mr. Flamingo.
While I don’t have many bird photos to share today, I did succeed in getting a decent one of a tufted titmouse. Usually, they grab the seed from the feeders and go.
This one stuck around long enough for me to actually get the camera focused. I don’t always see these birds around the backyard (other neighbors must have food they prefer) but I always enjoy their brief visits.
Mostly, it’s been the same old gang of regulars (mostly house finches) around the backyard feeders.
Along with the birds, this little bunny is a regular evening visitor. Thankfully, he prefers greener food than that inside my bird feeders. Wish I could say the same for the squirrels!
Not much else going on around here. Other birds spotted this week included chickadees, sparrows, cardinals, doves, downy woodpeckers, robins, and starlings. Oh, and yesterday, a rainy day, a group of grackles invaded the bird feeders. Seems today’s sunshine scared them away. Now, the finches are back to fussing around the feeders.
What birds did you spot this week?
