Whew! This month is going a bit fast. Not complaining because it means I’ve had more to do. Hooray for that!
My plan to get back on track again this week with waking up early didn’t quite pan out. My alarm went off at 6 but I didn’t quite get out of bed until closer to 7:30. Oops! Let’s just get on with the weekly planning post.
Linking up as always with our wonderful host, Sandra over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom.
Rain or shine? That is the question. The day I took the photo above answered shine and the storm clouds blew over. Today looks more like maybe rain. Or course, there’s just a 25% chance of it so who knows. Temps in the mid 80’s reaching the low 90’s by Friday.
How I’m Feeling This Morning
A little tired. I think I probably needed to get up when my alarm rang and not sleep that extra time.
On My Mind
Nothing too intense. Mostly, I’m thinking about how to get healthy again. Need to reclaim my scale from G. He took it to weigh packages for shipping or something. While I don’t want to know the number, I probably should know the number as my clothes tell me it’s not a good one. Toyed with the idea of the intermittent fasting but I’m such a breakfast lover (you can imagine me saying that how Oprah says bread lover if you want, it’s true) that I can’t quite grasp the idea. Probably going to try carb cycling again first. I’m sure just eating healthy(ish) again and avoiding all the packaged snacks should do wonders. Perhaps a little more activity as well.
On My To Do List
- Mountain climbing. (Wow, I jumped right in on that activity thought! Ha! Not quite, it’s a laundry mountain. SIGH)
- Clean out fridge/organize freezer/grocery shopping
- Pay bills
- Add band dates to calendar
- Re-read Chose to Lose by Chris Powell
- Write and send a letter
On My Breakfast Plate
Shook things up a bit this morning: scrambled eggs and sausage, half a cinnamon swirl bagel, and coffee (with chocolate milk as we’re out of regular). Plus two immune support gummy vitamins.
On My Reading Pile
Didn’t do as well with reading last week. Same two books in progress: a re-read of Happier At Home by Gretchen Rubin and The Last Odyssey by James Rollins.
Might explain the lack of reading progress. Fear the Walking Dead is still the laundry folding show. However, last week we went on a movie binge. We watched:
Trumbo on Netflix. An accidental pick that turned out to be quite interesting. Nothing worse than accidentally learning some history while watching a movie. It’s about the time of the McCarthy trials in Hollywood and black-listed writers. I had no idea those investigations went on until the 1970’s. (!!).
Then while I helped my husband with his tax stuff, we watched Twister. Cow! Another Cow. (Same one). Ha!
Finally, got around to watching my DVD pick from Netflix: Blackkklansman. One I ordered, ironically, long before all the protests started. Based on the true story of a black police officer who infiltrates the KKK (he has a white officer who attends the meetings posing as him). Funny at times, another makes you think kind of story. Based on a book. I’ll perhaps read it if the inter-library loan program ever re-opens. By the way, this song from one of the scenes stuck in my head all weekend:
Wait, there’s more! Seriously, you watched more movies over the weekend. Yes, we did. Just two. Escape From L.A. and then, I had to go and watch again, my all-time favorite, Escape From New York.

From The Camera
Our garden is growing nicely this year!
Maybe someone with a new “gnome” near it is helping us out a bit?
Looking Around The House
Not terrible though by the looks of the kitchen, I missed a party last night!
On My Prayer List
Friends, family, strangers. Those with loved ones in nursing facilities. For this virus to disappear. For a kinder, gentler world with less anger and divisiveness.
Quote For The Week
This verse is in my heart this morning:
9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.”
10 The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”
11 He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.
12 Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.
13 This is why I speak to them in parables: “Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.
14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: “ ‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
15 For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’
16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.
Whew! I got a little chatty today! Are you still with me? What’s on your agenda for the week?
