Happy Homemaker Monday, June is Jumping Along

Whew! This month is going a bit fast. Not complaining because it means I’ve had more to do. Hooray for that!

My plan to get back on track again this week with waking up early didn’t quite pan out. My alarm went off at 6 but I didn’t quite get out of bed until closer to 7:30. Oops! Let’s just get on with the weekly planning post.

Linking up as always with our wonderful host, Sandra over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom.

The Weather

Rain or shine? That is the question. The day I took the photo above answered shine and the storm clouds blew over. Today looks more like maybe rain. Or course, there’s just a 25% chance of it so who knows. Temps in the mid 80’s reaching the low 90’s by Friday.

How I’m Feeling This Morning

A little tired. I think I probably needed to get up when my alarm rang and not sleep that extra time.

On My Mind

Nothing too intense. Mostly, I’m thinking about how to get healthy again. Need to reclaim my scale from G. He took it to weigh packages for shipping or something. While I don’t want to know the number, I probably should know the number as my clothes tell me it’s not a good one. Toyed with the idea of the intermittent fasting but I’m such a breakfast lover (you can imagine me saying that how Oprah says bread lover if you want, it’s true) that I can’t quite grasp the idea. Probably going to try carb cycling again first. I’m sure just eating healthy(ish) again and avoiding all the packaged snacks should do wonders. Perhaps a little more activity as well.

On My To Do List

  1. Mountain climbing. (Wow, I jumped right in on that activity thought! Ha! Not quite, it’s a laundry mountain. SIGH)
  2. Clean out fridge/organize freezer/grocery shopping
  3. Pay bills
  4. Add band dates to calendar
  5. Re-read Chose to Lose by Chris Powell
  6. Write and send a letter

On My Breakfast Plate

Shook things up a bit this morning: scrambled eggs and sausage, half a cinnamon swirl bagel, and coffee (with chocolate milk as we’re out of regular).  Plus two immune support gummy vitamins.

On My Reading Pile

Didn’t do as well with reading last week. Same two books in progress: a re-read of Happier At Home by Gretchen Rubin and The Last Odyssey by James Rollins.

TV Viewing

Might explain the lack of reading progress. Fear the Walking Dead is still the laundry folding show. However, last week we went on a movie binge. We watched:

Trumbo on Netflix. An accidental pick that turned out to be quite interesting. Nothing worse than accidentally learning some history while watching a movie. It’s about the time of the McCarthy trials in Hollywood and black-listed writers. I had no idea those investigations went on until the 1970’s. (!!).

Then while I helped my husband with his tax stuff, we watched Twister. Cow! Another Cow. (Same one). Ha!

Finally, got around to watching my DVD pick from Netflix: Blackkklansman. One I ordered, ironically, long before all the protests started. Based on the true story of a black police officer who infiltrates the KKK (he has a white officer who attends the meetings posing as him). Funny at times, another makes you think kind of story. Based on a book. I’ll perhaps read it if the inter-library loan program ever re-opens. By the way, this song from one of the scenes stuck in my head all weekend:

Wait, there’s more! Seriously, you watched more movies over the weekend. Yes, we did. Just two. Escape From L.A. and then, I had to go and watch again, my all-time favorite, Escape From New York.

On The Menu This Week

Chocolate Pie for part of my husband’s Father’s Day presents

MONDAY: Parmesan Chicken and Caesar Salad (bag mix) *J has a baritone lesson at 6:30*

TUESDAY: Taco salads

WEDNESDAY: Waffles and Bacon maybe *J has mini band camp 3:00-6:00* *I might have MNO*

THURSDAY: Grilled pork chops, maybe sweet potatoes?

FRIDAY: OUT *I work 9-6*

*all subject to change based on freezer organization and upcoming grocery store trip*

From The Camera

Our garden is growing nicely this year!

Sweet pea blossom

Flowers on one of the tomato plants

Maybe someone with a new “gnome” near it is helping us out a bit?

Looking Around The House

Not terrible though by the looks of the kitchen, I missed a party last night!

On My Prayer List

Friends, family, strangers. Those with loved ones in nursing facilities. For this virus to disappear. For a kinder, gentler world with less anger and divisiveness.

Quote For The Week

This verse is in my heart this morning:

Matthew 13:9-16

9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.”
10 The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”
11 He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.
12 Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.
13 This is why I speak to them in parables: “Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.
14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: “ ‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
15 For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’
16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.

Whew! I got a little chatty today! Are you still with me? What’s on your agenda for the week?

Cow! Gave me a good chuckle this morning. I think that’s probably the most memorable scene in the movie. Your pie looks scrumptious and your garden looks great. Hope you have a nice week 🙂

Yes, I think it might be. It’s definitely a classic. Pie is already gone! (Glad I managed to sneak one piece yesterday though I guess it works out as now I won’t be tempted). Hope you have a nice week as well!

The music is very catchy! Thanks. It is very hard to get back on track right now. I’m still going to try. Hope you’ve had a great Monday so far.

Hello, Love your pretty sky capture. The gnomes are cute figurines for the garden. Your pie looks yummy, Chicken Parm is my favorite meal. I enjoy reading more than TV watching, I have been known to binge watch a Netflix series. Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy new week!

Thank you! I personally prefer eggplant but it’s not favored by all around here 😉 I typically prefer reading as well but don’t do good with audio books so have to watch something while I’m laundry folding. And then, every once in a while like this past weekend, go on a bit of a TV/movie watching binge. Hope your week has started off wonderfully!

Haha, my laundry mountain never seems to be conquered, I’m hoping I’ll get lots done during this week!

Twister is a great film, I might add it to my nostalgic films to watch list 🙂

    Have a lovely week.

I managed to get most of the mountain conquered but I’m sure it’ll grow overnight. Twister is definitely a bit nostalgic. Wonder what else is on your list? Hope you’ve had a happy Monday!

Hi Jean, laundry mountains just grow and grow haha. I watched Money Pit an old one with Tom Hanks I’d not watched before, and I’m going to watch The Burbs – also Tom Hanks lol, I might watch some Indiana Jones films. I made my daughter watch Steel Magnolias with me, she loved it.

Yes, I can’t believe I’m doing laundry again just 4 days later after having completed ALL of it on Monday. Where does it come from? Fun movie choices! Hope you’re having a great Thursday!

You really got me on the mountain climbing, I mean I never pegged you that, then I realized we had more in common than I thought. I am a bit jealous of those tomato plants. HavE a great week!

Now, I have been to the top of Pike’s Peak. Of course, we drove 😉 LOL! I’d love to be in great enough shape to actually hike up a mountain though. Hopefully, we’ll get some tomatoes from them before our usual time frame of early October. Hope you’ve had a great start to the week!

That pie looks lovely. You reminded me I have two biker gnomes to put in my garden. I brought them in when we had severe storm warnings and forgot about the. Have a great week.

Thank you! It’s already gone so I guess I’d call it a hit. I’d love to see a picture of your biker gnomes when you put them back out in your garden. Happy Tuesday!

  6. Jayne

I have read the book Trumbo by Bruce Cook so I will have to watch that movie. Helen Mirren is always great. Looks like a busy week ahead for you!

I didn’t realize it was a book. I’ll have to see if the library has it. This has been a surprisingly super busy week but in a good way. Four whole days of working. Woo Hoo! Hope you’re having a wonderful week so far.

I LOVE YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR THIS WEEK – MOUNTAIN CLIMBING HA HA. Your garden seems to be coming along nicely also as does your fairy garden and your pie looks scrumptious. I think we’re all a bit off schedule still and alarms seem so far from reality most days. I hope you’re having a GREAT week.

Thank you. I ended up working a lot this week and so, my alarm went off at 6:00 each day. Felt nice to be back in somewhat of a routine. Hope you’re enjoying your Saturday so far!
