Maybe I should title this post slow bird photo taking week. I saw enough birds just either didn’t have the camera in hand or took more than a fair share of blurry photos.
So, forgive my post that’s going to be a bit more tell than show this week. Let’s start with the birds I did manage to capture on camera.
Put a different blend of suet in the suet feeder (mainly because they didn’t have my usual) and wasn’t sure if the birds were going to like it. The downy woodpecker didn’t seem to mind. I apparently missed a great sale on safflower seed and settled for something called songbird blend to refill the feeders last week. I’m not sure what song grackles sing but it’s not one of my favorites.
And yes, I know we have poison ivy growing in our yard. Losing battle. It pops up around my flower garden as well.
Now, I do have some tell instead of show for this week. Another reason for fewer photos is my busier week. I worked 4 days! One day while cutting through the park and driving into work, I had to stop and yield to a little family of ducklings crossing the road. I sat enjoying the moment and then thought, oh, I should take a photo! Of course, I was too slow with it all. Sometimes it’s nice to just enjoy the moment instead isn’t it?
Other birds spotted this week included house finches, sparrows, robins, tufted titmice, Carolina wrens, both mourning doves and Eurasian ring necked doves, and chickadees. Plus, a few turkey vultures soaring overhead.
What birds did you spot this week?
