Happy Homemaker Monday, Already Tired

I feel tired just looking at the week ahead. Of course, I also feel tired because I didn’t sleep well last night. However, lots of work days for me this week.

I know I shouldn’t complain as I’m lucky to be working and at a job I love no less. And I’m not exactly complaining just wish I had a bit more play time this week. A few long days on the horizon mean not a lot of play time. Time to stop rambling and get to planning the week ahead.

Joining in with Sandra over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom for the Happy Homemaker Monday link up.

The Weather

Really pleasant outside for the second to last week of August. Highs in the mid 80’s with no chances of rain all week. Of course, it might change. Right now, it’s beautiful outside.

How I’m Feeling This Morning Tonight

Actually, working on this post on Sunday evening. And I’m feeling tired. Tired of lots of things. However, I’m hoping a good night’s sleep cures some of my grumpiness.

*Update: did sleep well and feel better this morning*

On My Mind

Mostly the week ahead. It’s the first week of the new school year at preschool, an exciting time.

I’m also still grappling with how J’s school year is going to look. I’m just over the pandemic. Dear pandemic, you can leave now. Buh-bye! If only. SIGH. On a positive note, we picked up his schedule and chrome-book last week. The school seemed to be on it with things. We both wonder how our neighbors are going to feel about him practicing his baritone for marching band at home at 7:15 each morning during his on-line weeks. Ha!

On My To Do List

Keeping it short this week.

  1. Finish up laundry
  2. Need to buy more birdseed (pesky squirrel!)
  3. Spend time practicing with new(!) camera AND fill out and mail warranty cards
  4. Get with J’s private baritone instructor to schedule make up lesson
  5. Write/schedule a few blog posts

On My Breakfast Plate

All week will be the usual. However, since it was a weekend, I broke from my routine and had a bowl of cereal (Quaker oat squares). And coffee, of course.

On My Reading Pile

Finished up Summertime at the Cornish Confetti Agency by Daisy James. Silly but enjoyable. Need to find something new to read.

On My TV

Watched Jurassic Park 3 over the weekend. And few episodes of Sugar Rush. Quit watching Selling Sunset, just couldn’t do it. Too silly even for me. Might go back but doubtful. Oh and I found some sort of photography course on Amazon prime so watched the first few episodes of it.

On The Menu This Week

MONDAY: roast in the crock pot *I work 11-6*

TUESDAY: Husband’s choice or already cooked from freezer *I have an 9:30 hair appointment* *I work 1-6* *Might go to an outdoor Bunco (just to visit, we aren’t playing) gathering*

WEDNESDAY: Husband’s choice or I’ll pull cooked pork chops from freezer with baked sweet potatoes *I work 11-6*

THURSDAY: BLT’s and french fries *I work 8:30-4:30*

FRIDAY: Steak bites and rice? OUT? *I work 8:30-4:30*

From The Camera

I took the plunge on Saturday and bought a new camera! No more bridge camera. Time to learn how to change all those settings…and I have lots to learn.

I’m sure the camera pro’s out there will get a laugh out of me immediately turning my dial to “A” for auto, right? Oops. I guess that means aperture priority mode. Turns out there’s a setting that actually says AUTO on the camera dial.  Still those “A” pictures (above) didn’t turn out half bad. The hot dog picture was actually the first one I took with the camera. So I guess I should’ve captioned it: Hot dog! I got a new camera.

First picture I took in the “real” auto mode:

Stuck with Nikon and upgraded from my Nikon Cool Pix B500 to a Nikon D3500.

Looking Around The House

I cleaned a bit over the weekend but I’m guessing you can’t tell at this point.

On My Prayer List

All the kids starting school this week and in the next few weeks and of course, those who already started as well.  Family, Friends, Strangers.

Quote For The Week

Children are the hands by which we take hold of heaven.  (Henry Ward Beecher)

What’s on your agenda for the week ahead?

Thank you! I like my camera so far though I’ve not had much time to really play with it so far this week. Maybe over the weekend. Hope your week is going great!

Your dinner from Monday sounds great! I don’t always follow what I plan but I do find it helps on days when I come home exhausted. Nice to look and see that oh yeah, that’s what we’ll have tonight. Hope your week is going well so far.

    Hello,

I have trouble sleeping too. It is good to have a menu planned for the week and we shop accordingly to the menu. It is nice to have meals in the freezer ready to go. Congrats on your new camera, why one did you buy? The kitty photo is great! Take care, enjoy your day! Wishing you a happy new week!

Yes, those meals in the freezer have saved us more than once (usually I just freeze our leftovers as no one seems to want to eat them as leftovers during the week it seems). I’d been working with a Nikon bridge camera but last year I did something (maybe dropped it, not sure) and bent the lens so it wouldn’t open. Ended up prying it open with a screwdriver (not the best idea but it worked) so it stayed open all the time. Had planned for a long time to upgrade just seemed like a good time to go ahead with it. Thanks. Hope you’ve had a happy week so far as well.

    Hey Doll
You have every right to complain and feel tired and over everything if you want to. I”m so over this whole covid thing too. I think everyone is.
Yay for a new toy…er I mean camera to play with – Lol I have a nicer camera too and I still have so much to learn and use auto as well. One of these days I will figure it out too. I think you’re doing great for a newbie to it!!

Thank you! I did sign up for a free email course aimed at beginners so we’ll see how that goes. Wind hugs back at ya! Are wind hugs like long-distance air hugs? LOL! Hope you are having a wonderful week so far.

Love the cat! I don’t have an agenda for the week. I just do my exercises, check my email, write Amazon reviews, sit in the sun, take photos, shop if needed, maybe go to a park if I have time. Then I blog.

Thank you! My weeks vary so much that I almost have to have a starting plan to keep things in order. I really like the sound of your weeks! Reminds me I should do better about writing Amazon review as much as I rely on them. Hope you have a wonderful week!
