Happy Homemaker Monday, Goodbye August!

I’m usually a bit sad to see August go but not this year. This year, I’m ready for fall. Thinking perhaps we all want to just move this year along a bit.

Speaking of moving along, I need to get this post up quickly now. Thought I had the day to meander but just got called into work. Only for a half day and I could’ve said no. However, I already work Wednesday and Thursday in the same classroom so decided to go ahead and work.

Straight to the categories provided by Sandra, our host of this link up, over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom.

The Weather

Thunderstorms moving through the area this morning. Already seeing a trickle of water in our basement. However, we really needed the rain so I’m glad to hear the thunder. Chance of thunderstorms all day today and lesser chance tomorrow. Highs in the low 80’s most the week.

How I’m Feeling This Morning

Slept decent, drank way too much coffee, but more or less ready to tackle the day.

On My Mind

The day ahead, how online school weeks are going to be hard around here. I’m already missing the built in routine of last week and I think J is as well. All the things I planned to do around here now put on hold for a few hours. Whether I’ll end up working Tuesday as well. Usual Monday morning mind racing I suppose.

On My To Do List

  1. LAUNDRY (all caps for emphasis because there is so much of it)
  2. Normal house cleaning
  3. Fall countdown cleaning (Today’s task: Clean all the doors! Dust the frames, wipe down the front and back of them. Post with rest of the tasks coming tomorrow)
  4. Write blog posts
  5. Pick up camera every day

On My Breakfast Plate

Cinnamon swirl bagel with cream cheese and I think I already mentioned the too much coffee.

On My Reading Pile

Last week I came across (in my kindle app) a new Ginger Bolton book, Jealously Filled Donuts (Deputy Donuts Mystery #3). Fun, silly cozy mystery. Survival of the Fritters was the first cozy mystery type book I ever read and it got me hooked on the genre. Need to something new to read this week.

On My TV

Lots of Bill and Ted! Watched Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Then, signed up for a 7 day trial to Starz (need to remember to cancel this week!) to watch Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey. Plan to watch the sequel soon. Trying to decide whether to brave the theater, maybe go to the drive in, or just SIGH watch it at home on demand. Was so looking forward to seeing it in the theater pre-pandemic but now the idea of sitting in a theater makes me fairly nervous.

On The Menu This Week

Feel like I should have some ideas but I’m struggling. You’ll see quite a bit of carry over from last week.

MONDAY:  Maybe fish, baked potatoes, salad *I work 11:30-3:30* *J has a baritone lesson at 6:30*

WEDNESDAY: Hawaiian pulled pork sandwiches *I work 11-3:45*

THURSDAY: Spaghetti? *I work 7:30-3:45* *J has band practice 6:00-8:45*

FRIDAY: Fend for yourself or frozen pizza

From The Camera

Might get a sunflower this summer after all…

Wildflower picture from a hike I took last week.

Looking Around The House

Today’s original plan was to clean it so…

On My Prayer List

Friends, family, strangers, our country, the world. For a kindness pandemic to overtake the current one.

Quote For The Week

Those who are hardest to love need it the most. (Socrates)

What’s going on in your corner of the world this week?

LOVE the idea of a kindness pandemic! And I agree we just need to move this year on into next in order to find some semblance of normal! I love your thunderstorm picture – so ominous. I hope you get the much needed rain without too much ending up in your basement. We desperately need rain here too and we’re still in fire season so I pray that it rains soon. Have a GREAT week.

Thank you. Happily, the basement stayed dry despite a second afternoon thunderstorm. Praying you get some of the much needed rain soon. Hope you have a wonderful week!

    Hello, my friend!
Always love my visits here with you.
I worked on laundry here too. And prep for homeschool because Flynn starts tomorrow! 5th grade!
I love cozy mysteries. Have you ever read The Lucy Stone mysteries by Leslie Meier??? I love them! The Trick or Treat Murder is my favorite! Have a cozy week.

Aw, thank you for your kind words. I’m still doing laundry this morning (almost done though…now if everyone would just wear the exact same clothes for the next 4-5 days, ha!). Happy First Day of 5th Grade to Flynn! How exciting. I’ll have to check out the Lucy Stone mysteries. Glad to have a recommendation because some of the cozy mysteries I randomly picked up at the library (ah, last year when I could randomly do things like that) were not good. Hope you have a wonderful week!

I post them each week on Tuesday (or that’s the plan at least 🙂 ). It was a bit of an odd week, feels like I should have done more than I actually accomplished. Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

    Hi Lovie!
I hope that the school stuff will get better as time goes on. It’s just such a weird world and I’m ready for more normalcy again. I pray for it everyday. Hopefully soon! I need to get back into a good book series. I’ve been such a slacker this summer.
And I love that you love Bill and Ted! Lol I loved that movie too!! It feels like I was watching that movie only yesterday. And then I see the info for the sequel and they look so aged (like me!) Where does the time fly?
I’m welcoming Fall now too. I’m ready – bring it on!! Have a blessed week ahead. xoxo

I do miss normal. This weird world makes no sense and I think, I struggle with that most of all. Find my reading comes in spurts. Been on a reading spurt this week. Ha, I know what you mean about Bill and Ted looking aged. Speaking of aging 80’s stars, we watched (at the suggestion of my 19 year old son who loved the movies) Cobra Kai on Netflix last night. Surprisingly, really good and so funny in parts if you need a laugh. Hope you are enjoying this last long weekend doing all the last of the summery things!
