Happy Homemaker Monday, A Day Late

And probably a bit more than a dollar short. After planning to take this entire week off (to help J with school), I ended up working a full day yesterday in answer to a flurry of late night texts. A tiring but quick moving Monday that left me no time for blogging.

Let’s get right to the plan for the rest of the week. Joining in as always with Sandra over at Diary Of A Stay At Home Mom.

The Weather

Weather last week looked like the photo above. Sunny, clear skies. Also, warm and windy. Most days, no need for a jacket by afternoon. Yesterday was still warm but mostly cloudy and windy. Today, a gentle rain is falling. It’s supposed to be rainy today and cooling with off with slight chances of rain again later in the week.

On The Breakfast Plate

I’m home working on this post at 6:45 in the morning (up early for no reason) so I’ve not yet eaten breakfast. Yesterday, I had the regular of a flip yogurt, coffee, and two vitamins.

As I Look Outside My Window

Sunrise from one day last week

Back and front doors really. It’s a dreary, rainy day. A good one for staying in, lighting a candle or two, and settling down with a good book.

As I Look Around The House

Husband plans to go hunting and so all  his gear is piled on the sofa. Of course, now they might delay their plans because of the rain. I’m a bit aggravated as I won’t light my candles with the stuff all over (don’t want to hear about my pumpkin chai candle making his stuff smell). Kitchen table also covered. Some clean up plans on today’s agenda.

What I’m Wearing Today

A light aqua t-shirt (another Duluth one!), jeggings, purple socks (no, they don’t match), and a pair of brown slip on shoes. I’ll need to change shoes to drag out the trash as my husband forgot it was Tuesday (He went to work for a bit this morning).

On My To Do List

  1. Clean off kitchen table
  2. Fold some laundry
  3. Put away shorts (think I can safely at least put away the shorts, pulled out some light sweaters but it’s been too hot to wear them lately)
  4. Get J organized with his online school week (a bit of a challenge)
  5. Write some letters/send some cards
  6. Make some phone calls
  7. On-line Christmas shopping?
  8. Need to go get cat food
  9. Make some cookie dough for the freezer?

On My Reading Pile

Last week, I read two novels by Catherine Lacey. Enjoyed both quite a bit except the ending of each left me just the tiniest bit frustrated as she doesn’t exactly tie up her novels with a pretty red bow. Of the two I read, Pew and The Answers, Pew reminded me a bit of all those random short stories literature class requires (a good thing from me). Meanwhile, The Answers had a bit of a Ray Bradbury vibe to it making it my favorite of the two though it was the older work from her.

I’m also just less than midway through one that’s been on my Kindle app for a while now: The Future of Feeling: Building Empathy in a Tech-Obsessed World by Kaitlin Ugolik Phillips. It’s non-fiction and a bit of a slower read. So far, though not intended as it predates the documentary, it seems a counterpoint to The Social Dilemma.

And finally, just for fun, last night I started reading Christmas at the Cornish Confetti Agency by Daisy James.  Something about the quirky characters and fun antics of them in this series really appeals to me.

On My TV

It was much too nice outside to do a lot of TV watching last week. We did watch some random Netflix movie called The Hostiles over the weekend. After a bit of a disturbingly violent start, not a bad little movie. About Indians and land settlers. Probably watch Next tonight. And my husband told me one of my favorites, The Bourne Identity, is on Hulu so I’ll definitely be watching that (again) soon.

On The Menu This Week

It’s a bit up in the air as I wait to see what my husband does regarding his hunting plans.

MONDAY: I don’t think I ate dinner. J had chips and cheese dip. My husband and G ate grilled turkey hot dogs. *I worked 8-4:30* *J had a baritone lesson at 6:30*

TUESDAY: Planned a roast in the crock pot but forgot to thaw it. Maybe breakfast for dinner?

WEDNESDAY: Chicken strips (from a bag), broccoli, ? *I have a hair appointment at 9:30* *Mom’s Night Out, might be weather dependent…*

THURSDAY: Roast in the Crock pot

FRIDAY: No idea.

Something Fun To Share

I’m sure you’re as sick of election talk as I am. However, I saw on the news here that a decent number of people in the KC area wrote in Patrick Mahomes for president.

A little upset I didn’t think of doing that one!

Frankly, I’d be okay with the KC Chiefs organization running the country. I can just picture “President Mahomes” with VP, Travis Kelce and Andy Reid as Chief of Staff. Cutting certain congress people and trading others across the country.

“Pelosi, pack your stuff” and “McConnel, we’re going to trade you to California” Ha! I do think, serious moment, maybe the senators and congress people should work out some kind of “exchange” and spend some time in other jurisdictions to gain better understanding of our country. I’m only sharing my silly thoughts for fun.

Let’s move on to the next category.

From The Camera

Quote For The Week

“We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.” (Abraham Lincoln)

What are your plans for the week ahead?

I like your Friday menu best!! This sounds like what mine is like (most days of the week, unkess there is leftovers). And if my husband said my candles are making his stuff stink/smelly…I’d tell him to pack it in the trunk/truck. Poor baby. lol

We had quite a few “Friday” menu days this week. I got in plenty of time with my candles this week 🙂 Hope your week was a great one!

I ask myself that question often. Best not dwell on politics though why so many do, I have no idea. Hope you’ve had a great week!

    Hello Lovely Lady!
The weather here has been crazy too. A few days ago it was almost 70* and then yesterday it was 30* and snow! Almost 40 degree swing! Geesh.
I love that you reference your Duluth wardrobe. Just makes me smile. I hope your hubby is able to go hunting too (for your sake – Lol ) But truly hope he has safe adventures.
You’re such a gal after my own heart with your candles. It’s been getting cozier around here at night. Gets dark so early. I have battery flicker candles in my windows now that come on at night. And wick candles I light too. That’s the part worth the bad weather.
I think I’ll put in a nomination for some of the Packers to run too! I hope you have a great rest of your week. xoxo

We’re getting ready for another warm swing next week, makes me wonder if Thanksgiving is going to be a cold one. Have you seen the (battery powered) candles that cling on the windows? Trying to remember where I saw them, think they’d be great. I’m sure “President Mahomes” would add some Packers to his administration. Probably, the State Farm guy as well. LOL! Hope you had a great week! And are enjoying a wonderful weekend so far.
